We all know how crowded London is. It can, at times, be a very unpleasant place to live. So it's a little disturbing to see that Britain might have a population of over 75 million people within a few decades.
For all the positive things people can do towards saving the planet, only having one child is probably the best one. We are at a stage in our evolution, physically and mentally, whereby we can reduce our population significantly and not suffer too much economically and probably see increased social benefits from smaller communities.
Less people means less waste. Less people means more space. Less people means an easing of the housing crisis.
Win win in my opinion.
You can also have one child and adopt besides.
ReplyDeleteThere is a theory stating homosexuality is a way to prevent overpopulation. But some probably think it is part of the gay conspiracy to turn everybody gay!
Yes, there is always a need for adoptive parents but people selfishly choose to create new kids instead of helping out the needy ones.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't be surprised if homosexuality hasn't been built into homo sapiens by evolution. Other species have evolved homosexual relations for their own evolutionary benefit, such as the the Black Swan.
There's nowt as queer as folk.
Well, first of all, I guess we should make sure that people know about the fact that less people means less waste. Then, it's tricky since we don't wanna endanger human rights like in China where people are bound to have only one child.
ReplyDeleteTalking about evolution is tricky too. What asset do you think homosexuality brings to an individual?
Oh I agree. There's an excellent article on the World Without Us website which brings up the issues with different cultures towards limited families.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, it was only a suggestion. It'd require a hell of a lot more study than I am capable of!
