Happy Ayden's Birthday!

Ayden is 6 years old today!

There are those who frown upon being too loving towards one's pets. But Ayden... Ayden is a precious thing indeed. He is such a laidback wolf, you'd think he was selected by Providence herself to be our companion.

After 6 years with this amazing animal there are things we've learnt:

1) BROOMS ARE SCARY
2) HOOVERS ARE SCARY
3) PEOPLE WAVING THEIR ARMS ARE SCARY
4) No cuddles please, we're Ayden.
5) Chicken can be sensed at a distance of 4 - 5 kms
6) DID WE MENTION BROOMS? BROOMS ARE THE WORST.

I love this big bundle of fluff.

Happy Birthday To Me!

10 years ago this blog recorded my 19th birthday here and here. Life has changed a lot since and now I'm 29 (or, as I prefer, 19 plus 10). Marriage to the most awesome man in the world (no, no not Charles Dera) is, hopefully, not too long away, I've got a dog and a bearded dragon and I live in Folkestone. Ok so that did change but then changed back again... that's how long it's been!

So what happened yesterday? Jim, Ayden and I met up with Mum, Stuart, Nat and Finn and went for a walk down to the old Rotunda, along the beach and had a drink in the Mermaid Cafe. On the way home Mum gave me some money for my birthday and some... gypsy tarts! Mmm... I love gypsy tarts.

Today has been a bit blah. It started out with a nice surprise, bumping into Zoe half way to work and getting a lift there with her. It's always good to see Zoe! But work itself was so awful that it drove me to using the C-word about customers and that is just not like me at all. Slightly appeased however by getting home to Jim having cooked me a Thai green chicken curry, served with a Singha beer and a chocolate cake for afters. Along with plenty of other chocolate my food haul has been particularly epic!

One more year, Dear Constant Reader, and then I'm 30. Yes. 30. Let's make this year epic.

Who's That Baby??? My 26th Birthday Post

Wow. I love this picture of me. Can we have more cute if awkward looking pictures? I.e. minus the fat? Thanks Jae (to Jae)

Blue Jae!!

It's my thumb!! It's like a really close up picture of me see... ;)

Awwwwwwwwwwwww.... I was like five years old and drinking. Stephen (on the right) was a very bad influence!

Things To Smile About

1) My first birthday present: The War In The Air by H.G. Wells. Thanks to Mark from Kent who randomly bought this for me!! Firstly I'd like to express my deep embarrassment for never having read H.G. Wells before, and secondly express my absolute LOVE of this book. I must immediately buy all H.G. Wells books and he can replace Stephen King as my author of choice.

2) I saw Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus the other day!!

This is the first true English language kaiju eiga (that's monster movie for you and I). Forget that awful '90s Godzilla, or that post modern Cloverfield. Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus channels the heart and soul of such Japanese epics as Godzilla and Rodan.

Sure the acting goes from very bland, in the case of most of the main actors, to extremely appalling. This movie certainly is a rubbish B movie. But it's my kind of rubbish B movie and the scene when the giant shark takes down a plane (by jumping out of the water TO CLOUD HEIGHT!) is worth every second of terrible extras giving performances that show why their day job is waiting tables.

3) As I write this Rav Wilding is on Celebrity Masterchef.

Mmm.... sexy Kentish men.

4) Hilarity of this girl being stupid. She feel asleep while having her face tattoo'd???

5) I saw James from the Apprentice on the tube yesterday.

6) I've got a four day weekend from Friday :D

At Waterloo Napoléon Did Not Surrender

Instead he got his arse kicked on this day 193 years ago. But he did not surrender... Also on this day in the past... Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo over the Atlantic and in another blow for women's liberation, in 1983 (a good year!), Sally Ride became the first American woman in space. Winston Churchill made his June 18th speech and on the very same day Charles De Gaulle made his appeal to the French people and launched the French Resistance.

Why am I mentioning this? Why it's as a subtle way of getting to the fact that also on this day a quarter of a century ago, in the old Maidstone Hospital, one Baby Kay was born at 11.26pm 18th June 1983.

This year work can't possibly forget it's my birthday like they usually do... Arwen (I guess as no one is here yet but she has been dropping excited hints) has decorated my area of the office with Happy Birthday Jason signs and bunting. Gotta love that.

As is standard check out Jae's birthdays past...
