I hate the BNP. If they ever gained power in this country I would fight them with every ounce of strength in my body. They are traitors, insulting the memory of all those who fight and died (a large percentage of whom were not white) to keep this country out of the hands of the Nazis and to keep it free.
However, I also believe in free speech unless it encourages violence or worse. And although the BNP are scum they do not openly encourage violence (I know, I know... they still get involved in it, but hey so do football fans etc)
So it seems almost ironic that protesters disrupted an Oxford debate on free speech featuring the BNP leader Griffin and Holocaust denier Irving. Here are supposedly virtuous anti Fascist protesters and they are trying to stop people practicing the most basic right in the world; free speech. We must never sink as low as the Nazi traitorous scum and deny them their basic human rights, no matter how much we want to. Let them speak, just make sure there's a good speaker from the sane world there to discredit their crackpot theories. And as one of my fave Lib Dem MPs Evan Harris was there I think we were safe at the Oxford debates!
I agree. Free speech lets us learn exactly what these kinds of people are about.
