Last night I headed out to see
Avenue Q with people from work at the Noel Coward theatre. Despite not having been there before I knew where it was, but would anyone believe me? Oh no... so after much arguing we finally arrived (and gee... it's where I said it was!) and settled down. I was in the back row of the stalls with no one behind me... for a socially conscious tall person this is known as BLISS.
Having had the music from the show stuck in my head for the last month I knew all the jokes and the plot. However this did not deflect from the fact it was a blast. So much energy and enthusiasm all up on stage. Christmas Eve (played by
Ann Harada) was awesome and the guy behind Princeton (
Jon Robyns) was a cutie.
Pictures hereI loved the show, go see it.
Technorati : avenue q, london, musicals
Robyns is cute. My partner and I were gawking at John Tartaglia when we saw it in Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same as you about sitting in the back row (unless it's the cinema where there are usually rampant teenagers fiddling with each other bits which is embarrassing). Mind you I'd say that sitting at the back was a necessity for you bearing in mind your height. Have you ever been to a show and sat toward the front and had hobbit sized people moaning behind you?
ReplyDeleteI really do need to see this show as well.
Going to the cinema/theatre is nearly always an uncomfortable, even painful, experience. I do often sit nearer the front and go out of my way to ensure I don't get in others way, usually increasing my discomfort. This means I generally don't get complaints, except from my aching joints.
ReplyDeleteHowever I will admit one time in Brighton I was just sitting down when two ugly, common women behind me made comments about it being just their luck to sit behind a tall bloke. I told them off for being rude and spent the whole film sitting upright blocking their view.
That'll teach 'em.
I just saw it recently too and LOVED it. Truly brilliant.
ReplyDeleteOh, I really want to see Avenue Q!
