After work today I headed out with Jessica from accounts to Kallie's surprise birthday treat. Her boyfriend Dan contacted me a week ago to organise it.
Sadly the Victoria line was closed so we took the overland to Waterloo and walked from there into Soho. Headed to Mildreds and meet up with a friend of Kallie's called Jen. The three of us got a table and waited for the birthday girl and her boyfriend to arrive... she really was surprised! Yay!
The food at Mildreds was gorgeous. It's a vegetarian restaurant and I had mixed mushroom and ale pie with huge chips and mushy peas. Divine.
Haven't wandered along Old Compton Street for a while. It doesn't change... he he... love that street.
I had never heard of Mushroom and Ale Pie so I Googled it and there were 200,000 references. And several recipes. Sounds good.
ReplyDeleteAs for mushy peas -- I had one tiny spoonful once. What do we love to eat over here in the States that causes you folks wonder about our sanity?
Hmm... nothing springs to mind straight away but I'm sure I'll come up with something?
ReplyDeleteWhy on Earth would you question the British mental state? Mushy peas, black pudding... etc... YUM! You guys are crazy for not LOVING THEM.
Do you have pickled onions? Pickled eggs?
