Jae Likes Bush

No I haven't gone straight. And no I haven't gone mad and started supporting that bloke over the pond. I just went to the fabulous Bush Bar on Thursday which is a very nice bar with excellent cocktails. Mmm... mojitos!! And the meal at Sodore was fab too. Sure the surroundings weren't up to much but the Ethiopian food was tasty and the host gracious.

Last night had a meal with Jim at Vietnam Restaurant.

Just discovered M&M's being sold in a shop in town... thank the lord! I haven't found any M&M's for years!!!

OK... my two cents on the Muhammad cartoon controversy. What is worse? Insulting someone's religion... or inciting violence?? As I looked at pictures of Muslims using threatening behaviour outside the Danish embassy, here in London, waving signs saying "Butcher Those Who Mock Islam" I decided that my sympathy for Muslims has reached it's lowest ebb yet.

I need to meet some nice, sane Muslims beyond the lovely guy at the corner shop. I need positive images to go against the constant negative imagery I see on telly and in the newspapers. Right now all I see is facist bastards who hate Jews, want to end free speech and censor the press. People who don't think twice before hanging gay people or stoning an adultress. Positive Muslim input required!

My last Muslim friend was way back at primary school...

I Like Driving In Jim's Car

Jim got his new car yesterday (ask me what it is and I'll give you a real blank look). I'm over my hate-hate relationship with cars. I'll admit I was wrong. Cars are okay in moderation. Sure it still stresses me out to be stuck in traffic, but I like the feeling of us having a car. It means we can do interesting stuff more often. Go for day trips, take over the world. You know, the usual. We took a drive round Greenwich, and it's always interesting to see things your used to from a different perspective. Colin  Farrell for instance...

Yeah I saw a brief bit of that video yesterday. Colin Farrell you dirty bastard... that rooms a mess. And having sex in front of a cat. That's scandalous!!! Anyway... not a bad cock Mr F. Oh yes anyone seen that top 100 sexiest men?? Jamie Foxx (failed Eurovision and reality TV star) beats Colin Farrell (they are 29 and 34 respectively). And David Cameron beating Will Young (92 and 98) is too awful for words. David Cameron looks awful and, far worse, has an appalling personality. Will Young don't worry! I'll always love you... I can feel a restraining order coming on.

My laptop has broke (it wasn't me, twas my foot) so I'm not going to be reading that many blogs for a while... and linking will become a little erratic... but I'll still be here!!

Off out to some Ethiopion restaurant tonight in Shepherds Bush. Wish me luck!

You Can't Ban Hatred

It's true. You can only ban incitement to violence, or something which would cause significant fear of violence. Humans are pretty stupid, hatred will always exist.

We live in a country where there is a right to freedom of speech and expression. We may not like it a lot of the time. I'd rather we closed down News Corporations offices. I'd rather homophobes were mutilated, executed and hung on Tower Bridge as a warning to others. But I understand that in order to live in a free society bigots, nasties and idiots (like me!) must be allowed to talk freely. Similarly their opponents must be allowed to talk back.

The House of Lords amendments to the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill were sensible and well considered. This was made especially necessary by the sensitivity needed in dealing with two very emotive subjects: freedom of speech and freedom to live your life in peace. And well done to the House of Commons to have the sense to back their compromise.

"The Commons confrontation followed a series of defeats inflicted on the bill by peers in a bid to safeguard freedom of speech.

The peers said only "threatening words" should be banned by the bill, not those which are only abusive or insulting.

They also called for the offence to be intentional and specified that proselytising, discussion, criticism, insult, abuse and ridicule of religion, belief or religious practice would not be an offence."

Tis Pay Day

Dear Constant Reader,

Today is a watershed. It's my first pay day of the new year. And I'm determined it marks the start of a new outlook for me. I am going to keep to a budget (£100 a week, although this week it shall only be £80.00 as I spotted some iPod accessories I liked. Rather than buy them I took the money off my budget for saving... see good or what!). I'm also toying with the idea of giving this blog some structure... Tuesday Totty, Manic Mondays (for my rants!), Friday Funnys... you get the idea. We'll see whether I can be bothered...

Yesterday at work we found our normal lunch pub closed (it's now under new management) so we headed to Wyvil's (where the foods not too bad, and the service has improved; it's now just slow rather than abusive). There I was pondering at the fact that as well as some fellow old pub refugees there were a hell of a lot of gay men in the pub. I then noticed the rainbow triangles newly fastened to the windows... hmph does Vauxhall really need another gay pub? I spose if the business is there... Today again to Wyvils... those barmen are cute...

Jim gets a new car tomorrow.

Customers are pissing me off.

Same old, same old.

Tomorrow, we start anew!

The Aquarium

When I was just a little boy I used to be taken to gardening centres all the time by my gardening conscious mother. I used to spend ages in the little pet shop areas staring in wonder at the tropical fish in their tanks, and wishing we could afford to own some.

In July, Jim and I got an aquarium which has sat in the front room ever since populated by black tetras, neon tetras, catfish and clown loaches. Now it hadn't really captured the same joy as those pet shop tanks. The catfish and loaches spendt their daytime in hiding while the neons and blacks swam slowly back and forth... it had none of the energy and life I had hoped for.

Jim had a fab idea a couple of days ago; we'd take the children to Pets At Home and each could choose their own fish. Yesterday we came back with 4 colourful guppies. And what life they've brought as they've explored their new home. The neons and the blacks have stepped up a gear to assert their supremacy... It's great... I'm actually enjoying just sitting and watching them.

And today... they've started to mate. LIFE AT LAST!

Hmm...

Page 11 of the Guardian. Look at that my second appearance in a newspaper... :o)

Now Army Investigates Gay Porn Allegations... I agree, people should not be starring in porn while they are members of the military. It is certainly not respectable behaviour and is certainly conduct unbecoming.

But the American military's response is rather horrid...

Maj. Todd Vician, a Defense Department spokesman in Washington, said the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy states that "homosexual orientation alone is not a bar to service, but homosexual conduct is incompatible with military service."

"We define homosexual conduct as homosexual acts or verbal or nonverbal communication that a member is homosexual," Vician said

Oh well that's ok then...

The Third Man

I've decided that I'm going to get behind Chris Huhne for leadership. He seems to be sane, hasn't gloated over the other contenders problems and has some reasonable policies. As long as when he says he wants to use the tax system to tackle sins like pollution he doesn't mean he's going to put taxes up on fatty foods or drink in some nanny state move.

Simon Hughes on the otherhand used a husting to gloat about his new found gay pride by comparing his "private predeliction" to those of Lloyd George and Churchill!!! 1) calling your sexuality a "private predeliction" makes it sound shameful and 2) comparing yourself to Churchill and Lloyd George is say just a little arrogant considering you aren't even party leader yet...

Holocaust Memorial Day (UK) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Policeman Being Honest?

Warning Brain Dump Ahead

Sir Ian Blair says what he thinks about Soham and racism. I actually must applaud him, even if I think he is a tad naive about the media. Saying this kind of thing is likely to cause you a hell of a lot of trouble as the media scum pounce. But it did need to be said.

Think about it for a moment... how is it that the Soham murders were given so much press attention when children are murdered all the time. The reason? Because the victims were pretty little white girls who lived in a pretty little village. I have nothing but sympathy for the victims parents, family and friends. But they must realise that the media didn't choose to cover the story because they felt it unusual or frightening but because it'd sell well to their demographic (white, middle aged, family people). Sir Ian is just being honest.

Imagine what the story would have been if the victims had been poor, black Londoners whose parents were drugged up junkies (but there were no connections with crazed religious practices, that always sells). Would there have been such an uproar? Answer that question honestly, and then think about how disgusting Britain's media machine is. The kids would have been just as sweet and innocent but their story wouldn't fit the required picture. You know it would have got one page, deep within the papers and then it'd be forgotten about.

We after all still live in a country where cheap homophobic jokes are used as front page headlines.

News International, gays and Lib Dems from Guardian Unlimited: Organ Grinder

News International, gays and Lib Dems from Guardian Unlimited: Organ Grinder

Oh wow.... a revelation. How much more must I bleat on about the evils of News Corporation??? Surely it's common knowledge that Murdoch is the devil incarnate... now I must get round to closing my MySpace account...

BBC NEWS | Politics | Gay revelation 'is leader test'

BBC NEWS | Politics | Gay revelation 'is leader test'

Simon Hughes says "he was not afraid of dealing with things". Erm... he's 54 years old... he has been in politics since 1980... and he comes out as bisexual in... 2006. If he took this long over this imagine how long it'd take him to "deal" with something truely frightening.

And he came out only after he was scared into it by the Sun. How on on Earth does this show leadership skills? It certainly shows he's afraid of things, and that he isn't willing to stand up to the media. He even gave into News Corporations usual gay blackmail "We know you're gay, either talk to us or we'll spin it negatively".

Simon Hughes loses more of my respect by the minute. First he's too far left for me. Then he comes out as a hypocrite and now he tries to spin his sexuality, of which he is so obviously ashamed, into a positive for his campaign????

I've said before... DON'T VOTE FOR SIMON HUGHES.

Simon Hughes - The Bastard Son Of A Bitch

Sorry for my recent language but the Liberal Democrats (my own party!) are starting to piss me off. Simon Hughes is bisexual. You'd expect me, being highly prejudiced in favour of homosexuality, to being cheering for him. I hate his guts. I hated him before he came out, and I hate him more now.

This twat's election campaign in 1983 is infamous for the high level of homophobia directed towards the Labour candidate (and my own personal hero) Peter Tatchell. This, and the fact people I know who know him say he is a horrid person, set me against his leadership bid.

But for him to now come out and admit he has had homosexual relationships in the past... IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL. And he gives his story to the Sun. Of all the flipping newspapers it would have to be the News of the World's sister paper.

Sure I was bit disturbed today when BBC Breakfast painted his bisexuality as some kind of (their word) "scandal". It sure is a scandal... but not because he's bisexual but because he is yet another Lib Dem hypocrite. Charles Kennedy lied to us, the Lib Dem "shadow cabinet" lied to back him up, Mark Oaten lied to his family, and Simon Hughes lied to his constituents. You don't have to tell people you are gay if you don't want to that's your business... but you do have to make sure you don't do anything that conflicts with your lifestyle... such as tell off judges for having rent boys (hi Mark!) or launch homophobic campaigns against openly gay opponents.

My membership is up for renewal... do I jump the sinking ship? Or do I head down the street to Greenwich party HQ and lend a hand at the pumps?

Menzies Campbell... please save us from the hypocritical poofs and lushs!!!

I Feel So Dirty But It Must Be Said - The News of the World is evil!

News Of the World - LIB-DEM OATEN'S 3-IN-BED RENT-BOY SHAME

I'm linking to a News of the World article. It makes my skin crawl. Now I haven't read the News of the Screws in quite some time, not since I've been old enough to buy my own paper (the Guardian). But I used to wonder even as a child why on Earth gay people would choose to talk to this paper.

Let's face facts here... News Corporation, the NoWs owners, are no friends to gay people and are not supporters of gay rights. Some stories in these tabloids have shocked me. Not because of the content but because of the hate filled message usually blantantly spelt out in childish capital letters.

So I must say to the young men who helped the NoW get this story on Mark Oaten... you fucking traitors. You tosspots. Have you NO SHAME??? Sell your story to a quality paper, even the Times. Have them break it. It needed to be said but really it should of been investigated by people with more than half a brain. Did the Jews sell their stories to Der Stuermer???

Message to all gay men and women. Don't support homophobic publications!!! Or I'll hunt you down and shoot you.

Good day I'm off to watch Fox News, fair and balanced don't you know? :op

Saturday, January 21, 2006

Oh My God... The Liberal Democrats are... liberals!!!

OK... Mark Oaten has an affair with a rent boy (although I'd say it was really an escort as he was 23, and last I checked that's no boy!). Naughty boy (Mark Oaten's obvious immaturity with regards to his personal life is a signal for us all to refer to him as boy)! he he... I would soooo have voted for ya. If you'd not cheated on your wife.

BBC NEWS | Politics | Oaten resigns over rent boy claim

OK... who's gonna be the first to resign over cannabis use? Come on Lib Dems... you're giving us all a bad name!

God Bless The Whale. Can I be the first to ask for a permanent memorial by Battersea Bridge?

We're All Going On A Summer Holiday

Well obviously Dear Constant Reader you're not coming with me (unless you really want to, you're paying though). Jim has in the last few seconds booked us a holiday in May to... Thailand! Woo... it's on a whole new continent and everything.

We will be spending 4 nights in Bangkok, 3 nights in Chiang Mai and 8 nights on Ko Samui. It's gonna be great... sun, sand, bars and Thai men. Can't wait.

The Whale

BBC NEWS | England | London | Concern grows for stranded whale

Poor thing. I hope it gets back to it's pod who were spotted off the Thames Barrier on Thursday. This goes to show the Thames pollution is improving... seals, porpoises and now a whale. All praise the clean up!

See a Wikipedia article about the species of whale here.

I love this quote from the BBC: "But at 0830 GMT on Friday, a man on a train called in to say he might have been hallucinating, but he had just seen a whale in the Thames." I feel like that some mornings too...

Budgets, Holidays and The Future

Hmm.. ok I am dead set on budgeting all this year. This doesn't mean poverty but means cutting down on totally unnecessary spending (mainly thinking when shopping for food... not shopping for things as needed at the corner shop as opposed to buying things from a supermarket). My budget for spending money will be £400 a month and I will not take more than that out. Or else you'll have to shoot me.

Got home to find Jim watching Thomas Cook TV, and getting excited over a summer holiday. He wants 14 days of sun and relaxation which would be rather nice. Cuba is the current top of the pops but Mexico (please read this as Meheco which sounds far more fun). I've just gotta try to think of it as a holiday not an experience. Otherwise I'll spend no time resting and far more time exploring. And I don't think that's what Jim is looking for in our main holiday... and I'll admit I really want to relax somewhere nice too.

Hmm... well I was planning on leaving my current job this year to find something better but events of the last few days mean I am more than happy to stay a little longer. So Jae is going to spend the year getting a nest egg together ready for holidays, adventures and the buying of nice things. Yay!

I'm Holding On To All The Handrails

It's been one of those mornings!!!

Last night I headed out after a very successful day at work (shh... it's a secret) for some customer service team building drinks. Twas a fun evening but I drunk too much again (I did request diet Coke's but no one listened).

Woke up this morning with a not too bad headache and the quickly disappearing memories of a dream I had about visiting India in search of curry. All very normal. Got to the train station and there was a 6 minute delay... no bother I thought. 6 minutes turned to 10 minutes then to several cancellations. I then did the near unthinkable... I caught a DLR without a ticket. I don't think I can quite convey into words the discomfort this gives me. I  had to force myself onto that train, and then the ticket collector came and stood next to me for the whole journey. I almost burst out crying while shouting "I have no ticket, arrest me!!!"

Anyway finally got to Lewisham... where the trains were delayed. DELAYED!! Grrr... I then went from one platform to another (repeatedly) missing trains till I finally caught a train to Cannon Street. Went to get off at London Bridge... the doors were out of order. SOB. So I've decided the Gods do not want me in work today... I've been walking slowly down stairs gripping handrails, like a sailor on deck in rough seas, and purposefully avoiding black cats and ladders. I just can't wait for this day to be over... and it's only just begun...

Pennypinching

Who is that new cutie on the right hand side? Tis Nimrod from Surface. Ain't he the sweetest little baby? Wuv him...

OK from next month I'm on a budget... I will have £100 spending money per week. Not that stingy a budget I know but it'll do for now...

I So Wanna Be Invaded By Eddie Cibrian

So I sat watching episode two of Invasion last night and pondered where I had seen the lead Eddie Cibrian before. I pondered for at least two seconds before I went on to IMDB... he was in But I'm A Cheerleader playing the awesome looking Rock... mmmm.... I love the satisfaction IMDB can bring to you.

Invasion is ok so far, but Surface is my new love after Lost. Come on how could I not love it? I spend half my internet surfing life reading up on cryptozoology... this series ticks all the boxes for me. Strong "takes no BS" female lead, cutesy teenage boy subplot with just as cutesy Nimrod, all American male lead, crazy scientists, army conspiracy, and 200 foot sea monsters who can kill in oh so many exciting ways. Sure it's done on the cheap, but I'm a Doctor Who fan... I can live with this!!!

What is it with all these one word titles Lost, Surface, Invasion? I actually quite like it.

Stardust. Stories like this restore my faith in humanity... when we put our minds to it we can do some pretty impressive things, beat that dolphins! :op

Random

This is class!!! - Stolen from Mr Stevie

Jim didn't seem in a very good mood with me this morning, I'll have to wait till he gets back from Hemel to find out why (no doubt my drunken snoring was to blame...)

Been watching Surface and Invasion. They are not actually that bad.

Strange isn't that once Pat Robertson realised some of his comments might leave him out of pocket he apologises? Bizarre coincidence, he is a man of God after all, and they never do anything wrong...

Ain't That Just The Way

I am very poor at the moment. Comes of having been paid ten days early last month... forty days without a pay cheque? It's just wrong.

So went out to the Beehive for a drink, and for once loads of people came with me. Spent the evening have drinks bought for me every time I even mentioned heading home. Also spent the evening making fun of the straight guys and having the barmaid guess which one of them was gay... :o)

The accounts manager lost his boxers to a hen party. It was one of those sorts of evenings.

Now must go sell my body for cash.. see ya...

EDIT God Save Gordon Brown. I love the Union flag and the United Kingdom... I haven't seen someone say something like this in ages. Hats off to him! God Save The Queen!

The Bad Samaritan

I crossed to the other side of the road today. It had been one of those days, you know what I mean and as I walked out of work I ended up behind a drunk. The part of Vauxhall I'm in is right near the station, and a homeless centre that seems to house only drunk homeless people.

They normally spend their days in the park, or under the rail bridge, launching missiles at unwary American temps.

Well the one I was behind staggered from one side of the pavement to another, fell onto a car and then rolled onto the floor. I have NEVER seen anyone quite so drunk. I stopped and asked after him. My immediate impulse was to rush to his side and help him up. Then he mumbled something drunkenly at me. And all my sympathy washed away... I saw he was fine and I walked on, albeit with the angel on my left shoulder scolding me something rotten. Then the two most annoying people I had ever been stuck in a lift with (they spent the journey down admonishing some poor girl because she only had two lights on her bike not three) notified the homeless shelter that one of their charges was lying in the road.

Now would you have stopped to help him up? I feel bad that I didn't but what would I have done? Tried to help him up and have him drag me to the ground too? Was it my fault he was too drunk to be walking, and completely out of his mind?

I am going to have to work on my sympathy. 5 years ago I would have helped him, and admonished a world that allowed such people to go on being homeless and alchoholic. Now I'm just "Serves him damn right for drinking too much". Can I be so heartless to really wish him not to have the brief joy the drink brings him, when his life is obviously horrid?

Please God... no...

BBC NEWS | Politics | Hughes enters Lib Dem leader race

Not he of the homophobic tendencies, if he wins I'll have to vote Labour. My God what am I saying?? If he wins I'm going to have to find myself a grassy knoll near Westminster... phew, that's the less extreme option.

Colin Farrell Has Sex With A Woman Shock!

Yes you read it here last... Colin Farrell had sex with a female on camera. I was obviously devastated. Next thing you know they'll try and convince us Prince William is a breeder (God forbid!)...

People this is not a news story! Sex tapes are so twentieth century...

Jae Loves The Interweb

I love my new 24 meg connection. I just downloaded something, and it came down at 1.5megs a second. I was impressed... considering it wasn't the only thing being downloaded at the time!!! Mmm... porn is sooo easy now, and copyright law? Who needs that huh? :o)

Go check out Brent Corrigan who is getting sexier by the minute!!!

I have a new tenant on the right hand side, you know the drill! Click and make Jae happy! Last week was the most successful yet which cheered me up no end!!

I am reattempting to read At Swim, Two Boys for the third time... this time I WILL FINISH IT!!!

Sommersturm

Yesterday I saw a brilliant German movie called Sommersturm. It was made even better thanks to gorgeous actors and the subtitles we used which were far better than any official subtitles... I can't really give an example but the phrasing was just hilarious!

It's a great coming of age/coming out story set around Tobi (above right) and his love for his straight best friend (above left) set as they compete in a rowing tournament. Luckily for Tobi there's a team called "Queerschlag" competing as well...

And Hanno Koffler is soooooo my fave member of that team.... cue totally pointless pics...

Brokeback Mountain - A Lot More

Brokeback Mountain

God, this movie lingers with you! So I thought I'd talk about it (it's a Sunday and none of you read this on a Sunday so I can be a little self indulgent today).

I've been reading other interpretations of the movie by other people. A lot of these have said "this isn't a gay movie, it's a great LOVE story". Which I will agree with to an extent. It is a great love story. A beautiful, heartbreaking and sexual love story. But to ignore the underlying gay themes would be to reduce the movie in a major way. This is a movie about a love story set against the background of poverty, closeted homosexuality and the power of nature. So to say it's a love story, or it's a gay story, is wrong. It's a well rounded drama.

The scenery is AWESOME and the camera work on this movie is amazing. It made sheep look dramatic. That's an achievement!

Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal both act their hearts out in this and really escape any preconceptions I had of them from previous movies. Michelle Williams far exceeded my expectations of her, considering some of her other roles that really stank! Anne Hathaway to get an Oscar? She wasn't bad but she didn't blow me away!

The story was touching. To see Ennis Del Mar (Ledger) fight against his feelings for nearly 20 years made me really feel for his character. I wanted to reach in and beat him round the head at some points though for being an idiot. I wanted to shout "Run away with Jack and join the gay Rodeo" several times. Alas... Jack Twist (Gyllenhaal) was so endearing, though his never failing love for Ennis and his devotion to a dream that would never be was devastating.

It's interesting that this movie spends most of it's time detailing the emotional fallout of Ennis' struggle (broken homes, bitter recrimination, and violent outbursts), which at the time was actually fairly rare. The way Jack lived, as a closeted man who slept with other closeted men all of whom are like him married, was far more the done thing back then. It felt to me that Jack was fooling himself a lot more than Ennis was. Ennis ended up pushing people away to avoid hurting them. Jack didn't seem to care who he hurt in pursuit of his dreams. Although I have to say he could of beat his wife with a baseball bat and not hurt that emotionally void creature.

The movie doesn't end the way you wanted to... that's why I like it. No happy endings here.

Jack Twist: That's more words than you've spoke in the past two weeks.
Ennis Del Mar: Hell, that's the most I've spoke in a year.

Brokeback Mountain @ IMDB

Go see this movie now.

EDIT: Straight people are weird (see here and here). Are straight men so girly and weak nowadays that they can't even sit through one minutes of seeing... erm... well not much actually... there's a shot of two men in clothes moving against each other... Woo... no big deal! I have to put up with your shitty sex scenes in sooo many movies. I'm not worried I might turn straight. Are you so emasculated as to actually think it possible for you to turn gay? If you think that then you probably are a little bit of a poof.

Big props to the straights who don't moan!

Brokeback Mountain Broke My Heart

I went to the Picturehouse today and saw Brokeback Mountain. All I can say is this; it is excellent. It is also one of the most heartbreaking movies I've ever seen (and you all know the high quality of the movies I watch... Maximum Overdrive, the Great Outdoors, and Eurocreme Dreamboy USA ;o) ). It is not my normal type of movie I'll admit (being a massive horror fanatic) but it made me cry. More than once.

Go see it, be you gay or straight (there's more than one breast shot boys, take your girlfriend and make her think you're fucking cool!).

Cheer Up Charlie

Goodbye Charles Kennedy. You fought for us Lib Dems. You lead us to victory (twice!). You rallied the troops with speeches which were filled not with hate, but with carefully thought out arguments. A reasoned and responsible leader of the party.

And now take a break, get some help, and stay with us! We'll still need you, and whoever takes over better make sure they consult you.

Now again may I just say... please God, NOT SIMON HUGHES!

Charles Kennedy Must Go; Simon Hughes Must Not Win!

As the saga of the Liberal Democrat leadership battle continues I've been thinking about the options for an eventual successor to our beloved leader Charles Kennedy.

Let me make it clear... I think Charles Kennedy did a fab job up until the May 2005 election in securing the Liberal Democrats their best result since the 1920s. He deserves a place in our history as the leader who was able to capitalise on the unpopularity of both the Prime Minister and the Conservative opposition. But he hasn't progressed us any further. We are still a party who's beliefs don't quite add up on the economy. Are we liberal or social democrat? Do we want to tax or do we want to end the tax burden? We need to know if we are to hold on and then increase our share of the vote at any future election.

It's time for him to go. It's time for new blood to take over. But that shouldn't be the spawn of Satan... sorry.. Simon Hughes. His disgusting campaign against Peter Tatchell in Bermondsey many moons ago does not endear him to me. And what I've heard ,over drinks with certain Lib Dems in Shepway, about him makes me fearful of the kind of leadership he'd provide. See this Independent article about him. He comes across as... slimy... sorry if that's a bit of a slur, I'm just putting my feelings into words. Do not vote for this man should it come to it.

We need a moderniser. We need Lembit Opik... (JOKE!)

Ed Davey for leader. Pass it round.

Friday, January 06, 2006

OMG!

Lib Dem Drinks Alcohol Shocker!. I don't think Kennedy should stay. Not because he's an alcoholic (even though who'd want an alcoholic Prime Minister), but because he's been a crap leader. But... The Lib Dems I've met all like a drink or twelve, so let's face it, it wasn't a surprise.

As Sam (M) said in a text to me yesterday "Ed Davey for leader!".

Went to Jim's Reuters leaving do last night and got, shall we say, slightly inebriated. It was held at the North Pole (long way to go I know...) and was pretty cool.

Tonight went to the Beehive with Sam (R), Alex and Scott for a quiet evening. Was good to actually chat to Alex and Scott who are the new boys on the block at work at the mo.

Work is soooo busy at mo. Monday sees the start of a new company... so you'll get double the chance to chat with me on the phone!!! :o)

In Need Of A Catch Up

Today was busy at work. Phew, glad it's over... till 6am...

Lunchtime went to the Kennington Lane cafe with Andrea and sat there for half an hour in the dark due to a power outage. They are just sooo depressing aren't they?? Wandering back to work and we were accosted by the cutest, most hyperactive puppy I have ever seen! Running between our legs, attempting to trip us over. Bless it.

Went out to Lavendar with Sam, Peter and some others. Was cool.

Hmm... feel like a random picture...

Jae Has A Kerazy Idea

New Year, new ideas. If you want to post to this blog (as regularly as you want) please let me know. I'm opening the blog up to anybody, to any subject. If nobody wants to, that's fine. I'll just cry myself to sleep... ;o)

I'm bored!! Jim isn't here, and I don't know where he is. So ask me a question, any question. Any subject, no taboos. Go on, you know you want to!

Oh and click on the blog at Rent My Blog on the right... GO ON!!! What have you got to lose? It's the safest link over there, no naked men...

Stupid Humans

Sometimes I think humans are too stupid to continue as a species. I was reading this Reuter's story and wondered how we have managed to last even this long.

How can you have gone through life without someone telling you "never get between a parent and their child"? Were these people born in a box? Did they not know lions had claws and were carnivores?

And these people are allowed to vote. That is scary.

The First Post

New Years was spent in Dorking with Paul and Jane. Had a lovely time.

New Years Plans:

1) apply to the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard as a volunteer.

2) take over the world

3) post on this blog daily!

4) save money. No spending so much at lunch time. Either stop buying so many magazines or get a subscription to save money. Eat less junk, cook more. Hmm...

5) cook at least one meal a week from scratch.

6) visit at least two foreign countries.

Happy New Year everyone! This year I'll try to get some content to put some meat on this blogs bare bones...

Blessed Be

Jae x

2005 - The Final Countdown!

So here's why I like having a journal. I can always look back and remember what I said, so let's look back at last years "Plans"

Plans for the new year. Not resolutions, because they are so corny and so 2004. No... plans, that may go wrong, or get amended by events.

1) get into shape. My body is a temple, one that can be quite attractive if I just bothered to eat right and work out sometimes. people say I'm cute and have a brilliant smile and that I'm sexy and other stuff that shouldn't be mentioned in public... But I need myself to believe that... I want to be the best I can be... mentally, physically and spiritually.

Hmm... ok... if at first you feed your fat face till you're sick; try, try and try again... My new diet starts tomorrow!!!

2) leave this house, and hopefully this town. Folkestone isn't that bad. There are plenty of places far worse. But like all people i should leave, live life a little and spread my wings.

YAY!! Look at that! I made it... I DID IT! I now live in *puts on posh voice* Historic Maritime Greenwich, don't ya know?

3) Be nice. Over the last 3 years all my faith and hope in humantiy has been eroded to the point that I see most people as STUPID and the rest as just plan up their own bums. In fact last year I probably said "They should all be lined up against a wall and shot" at least twice a day. All that kind of adds up to making me a bit of an arsehole. This year I hope that I can restore my faith in humanity and seek out nice people who are clever but not arrogant... who wish to talk rubbish and smile a little.

Moving quickly on...

4) Avoid clubs. Since January 2002 I have lost the will to club. I must admit it... after leaving university clubs just seemed (and still seem) a bit lame, full of freaky hormonal Norms (those who I used to refer to as Extras). I don't enjoy clubs, so why bother wasting my time (and money) in them?? And dancing??? A BIG no no.

YAY!

5) Be nicer to Jim. Let's face it... if I want to keep him... I need to go all out, pull out all the stops, use the good china, and work my arse off to ensure I never lose him. Cos I've thought about it; I don't think I could stand the pain of yet another rejection.

Ok. I hope I managed this one, Jim can judge.

6) Rediscover my sexuality. Cos of late I haven't been feeling how I used to feel about being gay. It used to be the one thing that made me smile and made me happy. Now? I have plenty of stuff to make me smile and be happy... I need to redefine my homosexuality... is it just one part of me now? Or is it still the essence of my being? (side note: I don't wanna become one of those castrated men who are partly ashamed of their homosexuality and just say "I just like men, it's not important"... cos trust me... sexuality is VERY important. Straight blokes... imagine saying "I like women, but it's not that important to me". WHO WOULD YOU BE TRYING TO KID???)

Done. San Francisco has reaffirmed my faith.

7) I may go to uni, but to be honest... it's not something I care about. I care however about how other people see me. And I don't like the way they see me as a non degree bloke. Maybe that is something that I need to think about and deal with. And I shouldn't worry about other peoples expectations... that's what got me into trouble last time I went to uni...

Maybe next year...

So sucesses and failures. That's called real life! Tomorrow... 2006's plans!! Stay tuned.

Ok so here's my list of the best of 2005....

Best Person: Jim. Sorry but no one famous has moved me this year. Jim has been the driving force behind my 2005, the best year of my life (SO FAR!)

Best Place: San Francisco. Prague was top of the pops of 2004 because it was new, fresh and beguiling. San Francisco had those same properties. It was totally different to what I expected, in good and bad ways (see HOMELESSNESS and POVERTY). That won it for me.

Best Podcast: Bad Weeds San Francisco. A Bad Weed is hard to kill. Corkey, I love you!

Best News Story: Speaks for itself!

Best Looking Man: Brent Corrigan

Best Post On This Blog: The Censored One! That link isn't the post as the post is... censored! A naked picture of Kevin Mcdaid, who did some porn in his youth. Blogger didn't like it. SHAME! He was quite cute.

Have a Happy New Year!

2005 - Winding Down

Don't some news stories fill you with glee? Such as this one. To see some rude lout get his just desserts makes my heart leap with joy. Why should one person be allowed to get away with being so rude and nasty in an enclosed space like that with so many others. Way to go Mr Pilot!

So there I was searching for some new nice pics for the New year when I came across one which I just had to post... with a question for any American who drops by... who is Jeremy Bloom?

Who ever he is... I want one!!

It's Nearly The New Year!!

Met the Screamer of Vauxhall today. Now most people at work seem to have met him before, guess I've just been lucky enough to have avoided him. Until now.

Coming out of the Wheatsheaf after my first lunch break in days, Peter and I were stopped as a man appeared from around the corner screaming. I don't mean to suggest he was shouting. He was emitting a high pitch scream, ala horror movie victims too numerous to name.

Supposedly he does this most days all around Vauxhall.

He is most disconcerting.

Snow, Beer and Presents: Christmas 2005

Gosh I have been busy! First off sorry to Becky and Zoe who I didn't get round to seeing even though I promised I would. I'll try to explain!

Friday and work was tedious. Got out early and caught the train to Westenhanger. Mum picked me up from the station, I dumped my stuff, washed and dressed and headed off to the Burlington Hotel for the water boards Christmas do. My date for the evening was the lovely Stacey Lady

Ain't she lovely?

Had fun, seeing a few of the old faces, and discovering that nothing has changed at my old job. I felt like I hadn't been away... there was...

I love Angela!

Angela and Karen

Sarah - as you can see she was rather sober

James, Carolyn and Katy

One of my work colleagues confided to me her worries about her son who has come out to her. Which explains who Kate was talking about. He's only 16 bless, although he's appeared in Finding Neverland amoung other things. Bastard. ;o)Oh the circles I mix in. I was supposed to go stay with Henry and Sarah, but you can see the state she was in! I decided to go home instead. Snuck in the backdoor and slept on the sofa.

Was woken by Mum, had breakfast with the family...

Then went shopping with Mum and Beth for the last few presents. Wasn't too bad. Had one of those moments where I realised why I love my Mum so much. As we walked past a Big Issue seller we both stopped to buy one. The Big Issue seller screams "Ally". My mum and Jess (Big Issue!) hug and chat about the good old times when Jess was in one of Mums projects and they kiss goodbye. Not many people have a Mum who not only knows, but cares about, the homeless kids of Folkestone. She spent the rest of the weekend worrying about Jess.

Got back to Lympne, made Beth wrap the presents for me...

Then we picked up Jim from the station and drank ourselves slilly for the rest of the evening.

Slept on the most uncomfortable bed ever that night... it was on a 45 degree gradient... ewww...

Christmas morning! I got loads of pressies and was pleased with the response the ones I gave got. The rest of the family turned up for dinner...

And then the most exciting moment of the holidays arrived... the Doctor Who Christmas Special!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!

Boxing Day... it all started off normal enough. I was to go into town, meet Becky and then move on from there to Zoe's house warming. But first my phone died, and while I tried to get my sim to work in other peopels phones I went up the pub. 5 and half hours later my Uncle David, Jim and I were found rather worse for wear debating Britishness. Hmm... and that's why I never made it out. I was too pissed!

And then it started to snow. And snow. And snow.

This morning I woke to find a winter wonderland outside...

But no trains. :o( I thought we would be stranded in Lympne but after a couple of hours the folks got bored of us and drove us home...

And as we drove up the Old Kent Road I realised... London is home for me now. I felt so much better when we crossed through into Greenwich Borough... mmm...

And now the kids are here... joy!

Hope you all had a fab xmas!

Come Back To The West Coast

Guess who was in the Bay Area Reporter (San Francisco's top gay newspaper)??? Go on... well ok yes it was Corkey Mineola. But who else? Some guy from "England" (where the hell is that???"). Twas I!!! Although may I make it quite clear I live in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. England ceased to exist years ago... it has been England and Wales since like the 15th century...

Read it here

Merry Christmas! Don't forget to visit my current tenant in the Rent My Blog section.

Oh Go On. It Is Christmas

It's that time of year for over indulgence (not that I need much of an excuse for that, I admit... my stomach has been growing at a not inconsiderable rate for some time now...). Last Jim and I headed to Ye Olde Rose and Crown for a drink (saw Sally, I am sure she lives there), had dinner at that all you can eat Vietnamese restaurant, and went to the the Greenwich Picturehouse to see The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Now have seen some of it on dodgy "digital copy" but it seeing it at the cinema was awesome. Beautifully done. Can I marry King Peter please? Cheers.

It is an early pay day today (oh Jim that letter from the bank wasn't a nasty one, it was my bank statement! Phew!) but forgot/have lost my bank card. I am hoping it's lying on the chair where I threw my coat last night, as my work keys were lying there and they are kept in the same pocket. So have £6.00 to see me through the day. No excess for me then!

If ya wanna wish me an early Merry Christmas, please click on the current tenant of Rent My Blog over on the right. I want as many unique hits as possible for this one as that blog LINKS ME. And I love blogs that link me. Go see!!!!! And not only that but the owners other blog links me too... mwah!

Now it's nearly time for me to run home to Folkestone (Friday) so if I don't blog before then MERRY CHRISTMAS! You know me, I'm not one of those bloggers who pretends he won't blog over Christmas, I will. Thank you all so much for staying with me this year, for linking me, and for leaving comments. That you keep coming back makes me feel all warm and happy inside. Love ya Dear Constant Reader.

Civil Partnerships Are A SHAM!

I really don't wish to darken anyone's special day now that civil partnerships are legal. But those who are taking part in civil partnerships are selling themselves, and the rest of the LGBT community, short. They have given up the fight not just for true equality, but also for freedom for everyone (be they gay or straight) from the demands of the "righteous".

We have failed to meet two totally different goals of two quite different parts of our community. One was total equality, to have no difference between gay, straight, trangendered etc; to have full, equal marriage rights not similar to, but the same as, heterosexuals. That we have now not achieved and may not achieve for decades!

The other goal was more radical. It was to change the face of the world, and to free us all from a very self destructive socialisation we fell into around the time of the industrial revolution. This was the mixing up of romantic love and marriage, a mix that really doesn't fit. By selling out to this bizarre and strange mix of marriage (a formerly practical institution) and love (not practical, beautifully aloft) we have enslaved ourselves and abandoned our basic principles.

Somehow today a dream has died, and something wonderful has become dreary.

Le Weekend

It wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it'd be. Friday Jim, his mum and I had drinks at the Novotel before a dinner at an all you can eat Vietnamese restaurant near King Williams Walk. Saturday the kids arrived and Jim's mum made an AMAZING scotch broth. Sunday I went to see King Kong with Jim and Ian. That movie was orgasmically good. Adventure, romance, King Kong and the most amazing fight scene between KK and THREE T-Rexs. Soooooooooooo awesome. Then had a pub quiz at the Richard 1st where we came second from last. We should never have gambled!

All in all, first class weekend.

Ok So I Said I Wouldn't Moan

But I lied. Everyone I've met or interacted with today has been TRUELY MISERABLE. Went to a pub called Wyvils for lunch and the waitress was the most sarcastic and rude person I've met this year. Glad we don't have a tipping culture,  as it saves the embarassment of leaving NOTHING!

And my mother in law is about to arrive. EEK!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your messages of support and goodwill on my last post. Love you all too.

Big Dad

My maternal grandad died last night. He'd been ill in hospital a couple of weeks ago, but had been cleared to go home. He was only 68. I didn't know him very well, due to some family politics and the fact he lived miles away (north of the Thames!), but I spent one of the most memorable weeks of my life with him. 1998 was a very important year for me and the week I spent with Big Dad and Derek was a week I really discovered who I was, where I was going and where I could have a break from some of the emotions I was feeling back home.

Big Dad, you shall be sorely missed. Intelligent and just the right side of mad. Love ya.

The Whole Truth

Being gay is a lot like being very tall. People always say the same things to you. If they see me in the street it's always "You're tall, aren't you?" What compels them to talk to me, let alone say something so stupid has always fascinated me. Do they go up to aged people and say "You're old, aren't you?", I often wonder.

Well being gay there's a similar stock question from both straight people and gay people. "When did you realise you were gay?" Now I've always had a stock answer for this. "When I was 14", which flows off my tongue almost as easily as "I'm 6'8" ".

But it's not true. I was four when I realised I was gay. I didn't know what being gay meant. I didn't know about sex. I hadn't a clue about much at all. But I knew I wanted to see Dolph Lungdren naked. Obviously I don't tell them that as it'd weird them out (children never think about sex, it's the law) Why mention it? Because it gives me a chance to post a picture of the sexiest man of the eighties...

Did you think I was gonna be all deep and meaningful???? This close to Christmas? You must be kidding!

OK. I've Had Enough

12 hours of BBC News can send you mad. If the news presenter remarks on how amazing it is that the fire is still going on in Hemel Hempstead I'm going to carve the fire triangle into his forehead. HELLO! Fuel + heat + oxygen = FIRE!

He is making my head hurt.

Bright Lights, Dark Clouds

So last night was ok. We all went up on the London Eye for a 30 minute champagne "flight", before we took a Humvee limo into town (I lost my limo virginity to a big'un). Had a few drinks at the Akbar and dinner in the Red Fort. Then went to some other Soho place. Had sooooo much champagne. Spent an hour waiting for a taxi at Charing Cross, and got home at 4am. I'm a dirty stop out!1

There's a dark cloud over London today thanks to this incident. Gill and the kids live just opposite the blast area in Hemel Hempstead, they are fine although their patio door has been blown off. Can't believe the cloud from the fire is over us here many, many miles away. That has got to be some fire!

Pictures of last night and the dark cloud will follow when Jim finds the camera lead.

Revelations

Yesterday was secret santa day at work! I got two presents, which is worrying. George was one of my secret santas and he got a me a singing dog, which woofs "I Wish You A Merry Christmas". It is sooooooo cute. He's only been working with me for two weeks but he has me sussed. The other gift is a Worst Scenario calendar which is great, but who got it for me???? It's a mystery.

I went out last night with some people from work for Merediths birthday/Lindsays leaving drinks. Went to the Lavendar, and had a good time. Moved on to "The Phoenix" near Sloane Square and had an ok time.

Got Civ IV today!!! It didn't work, but Jim has fixed it being the most excellent man that he is.

Off out for the works Christmas do tonight. Pictures to follow.

Did you know Santa Claus is not Father Christmas???

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Have you all down you Christmas shopping yet? If so, spare a thought for this Microsoft executive. He doesn't even get an xbox for Christmas. How harsh (I'm filled with sympathy!)! Good to see Christmas shopping is hell for everyone.

Ok I have to buy for Mum, Nan, and Tony. Will do this on Saturday then my Christmas shopping is over. Praise the Lord!

Brent Corrigan has a blog!! :o) Now isn't that news to warm your heart! Santa obviously read my letter...

There's A New Animal On The Block... And It Looks CUTE!

A brand spanking new mammal is found in Borneo. Now being interested in cryptozoology this fills my heart with glee. If land mammals this large are still being found then imagine what lies beneath the ocean. Ooo... fingers crossed for a megalodon ;o)

Robbie Williams is not gay and I don't want to hear any suggestion that he is. Cos we don't want him!

There is one story I'm a little peeved about but as I'm not allowed to moan we'll play a guessing game... it was on this page at 21:37. First person to guess the story and the reason I'm peeved wins a prize...

And on a lighter note... David Boreanaz IS GORGEOUS.

The 19 Days Of Christmas

I received a reader complaint yesterday. Jim moaned at me for moaning too much about... everything. Although I would say this is the whole point of a blog, an outlet for my moaning, I will admit it has been worse of late. So... I promise that right up till Christmas Day you'll hear no bad news, no grumpiness and a whole lot of cheer.

Ooo... so I've nearly finished Christmas shopping just gotta get stuff for Tony (erm??), Nan (something nice from Greenwich Market) and Mum (God darn her my default Christmas present for her has turned into her birthday present and I'll get something nice from the market too). Feel quite chuffed. Depending on the money might get something extra for Jim. ;o)

I have to say my bolognese came off quite well yesterday. I learnt some lessons (less water) but overall I think it was quite yummy. Self congratulatory pat on the back required...

Hey did you know it's nearly Christmas, and do you know what I love? I love to get gifts from my readers. It makes me feel so wanted, loved, cherished, happy and gives me a desire to post more half naked men. So hey look here's My Amazon Wish List just in case there's any body out there who loves me!

I was going to post pictures of kittens in santa hats, but thought PETA might kill me so instead I present Santa taking a nap...

I wonder does he still come if you stay awake all night?

London and Relative Dimension In Space

London is it's own kind of TARDIS, just in reverse. It is smaller than you think. Jim set me a challenge yesterday just before he disappeared to Hemel Hempstead.. I must cook a bolognese sauce from scratch (he's just bought the Silver Spoon italian cookery book). And so today I headed to Tesco in the centre of Lewisham in search of ingredients. Which is 10 minutes walk from the centre of Greenwich where I live. Sometimes I forget it's so close. It's the same with Canary Wharf. It's 11 minutes on the DLR. You can see it from our street. But somehow my brain tells me it's TOO FAR. In Folkestone I'd walk half an hour just to catch a train. I'd walk 40 minutes just to get a magazine. I could actually walk to where I work in less than an hour. (it takes half an hour on a hideously crowded train, I might just consider it!)

I've been in this city for 6 months and still haven't explored it properly. My first NY Resolution is to discover London. I owe it to the city I've spent my life dreaming I'd live in.

AH! Two gay blokes on telly talking about civil partnerships... "At the end of the day it's equality and that's what we've been after". IT IS NOT EQUALITY! God, sometimes I wish I was born in Canada like most of my family... at least gay people didn't settle for second best there. Hmm. It's time to start writing letters. And give Nick Raynsford, my Labour MP, a kick up the bum.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Pretty soon we will know the name of the new leader of the Tories. Hmm... the country isn't exactly shaking with excitement now is it? Personally I hope David Cameron gets it as I'd like to see his take on the drug problem. I'm taking bets on just how hypocritical it'll be... quite, very, amazingly or awesomely...

I went to Canary Wharf today to try to find Civilisation 4. I came running back. Xmas shoppers annoy me more than any other type of people. In this internet age there is no excuse for walking around soooooooo slowly, and paying everyone else no heed at all. If you're a slow shopper, please do it from the comfort of your own home. Cheers.

I still have a cold. :o( But at least it's nearly Christmas!

My Hero

Chatterbox MP blocks the vigilante bill. Thank the Lord! Reasonable force is all you need to stop people on your property. This means you can defend yourself and your property from an attacker. It also means you can't shoot a fleeing teenager in the back when he has ceased to pose a threat. Simple.

I am not against victims rights. I think if someone attacks you and you kill them in the course of defending yourself, you shouldn't be prosecuted (although I'd hope you'd feel some remorse at taking another's life). But if you chase and attack someone fleeing from you, even if they have your TV under their arm, then you are no better than the criminal and should deserve no protection. No piece of property is more important than ANYONE's life. Yes even a bastard thief. Recovering property is the task of the police. It's what I pay my taxes for.

Hell Is Other People

Jean-Paul Sartre showed his genius in just those four words. I admit I'd hate to be alone somewhere without any human contact. But some of the people who I encounter when I leave the safe confines of home are truely terrifying. The gormless ones, the loudmouthed ones, the rude ones, and the real life challenged people ("Yes these are escalators. You must start to walk by the time you reach the bottom. Oh darn, failed again, maybe tomorrow huh?").

I'm not saying I'm perfect. But I at least don't walk round a train station pretending I'm the only person in the world and thinking my luggage somehow has the right to be throw in five different directions all at once just to frustrate those attempting to get past me.

And I'm the one who gets funny looks from the strange people who jam themselves on to a crowded train while I stay on the platform because there's a perfectly empty one following in the next two minutes. That's called understanding basic math. This train is filled with people who have reached their embarcation points within twenty minutes before departure. The next will be filled with people who reach their embarcation points within two minutes before departure. Hence the second train should have 10 times less people on it. Ok so we have to take into account most people will be aiming for certain timed trains so it's probably more like only 10% less, but it's nice to have room to breath anyway... Considering how empty the second train is I must be slightly more intelligent than most of those on the first train... Which worries me as it's a very crowded train... ;o)

Brain dump over... Lochgoilhead photo of the day ahead.

My Blog. My Rules.

God. I've realised that I have become obsessed with hits, comments and blog rankings. This is not what this blog is for. I do this for me and no one else. I don't have ads (I may be a slut but I'm no whore!) so I shouldn't worry about how many people read this. I have you Dear Constant Reader and that's more than enough.

Now...I can't wait to see Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Brokeback Mountain, King Kong and, of course, Narnia! All of them look awesome (especially King Kong, featuring a 9 minute scene of King Kong versus... 3 T-Rexs!!! It's enough to make a dino addict do unmentionable things...).

George Michael plans to marry his partner. Well that's amazing... I didn't realise gay marriage was legal, let's go read the Civil Partnership legislation again *turns through pages studiously* oh wait.... it's NOT! BBC News get you fucking facts right. Sorry to swear, you know I don't like to, but it's SICKENING that the Governments spin machine has fooled even most of us moxes. Civil Partnerships are just one plank in this governments efforts to segregate and seperate each part of our Kingdom into small inward looking "communities" of consumers. Hey let's pander to Sinn Fein and the DUP. Fuck true equality in Northern Ireland. Hey let's give each community a new name!! British-Indians, British-Pakistanis, British-Kiwis. Brilliant. Oh let's just get rid of British altogether! Let's give the queers a piece of the pie but make sure the fundamentalists know it's not the same as marriage. But hey imagine how much money the "gay marriage" business will squeeze out of those desperate fools....

I am British. Each and every other subject of her Brittanic Majesty is my equal. Gay, straight, bisexual, black, white, disabled or stupid.... we are one people, with many facets. Multiculturalism and a tolerance of segregation is killing this country. It's time someone did something about it.

Please release me, let me go...

Dear Constant Reader,

Sorry I have been so lax in blogging of late. I have just been busy! I am not forgetting about you. In fact Jim has gone and given me a better link to this site for you to use, http://www.jaekay.co.uk/blog . That's right people. I am moving into the 21st Century!!! Next thing you know I'll be hosting my own blog... watch this space.

Hmm... hmm... I fancy another break. I just don't get away enough do I? I've only been to Lochgoilhead, Manchester, Prague, Warsaw, San Francisco and Lochgoilhead again this year. I mean really is 5 breaks a year even remotely enough???? ;o) So may well be off to Paris in a couple of weeks time. We'll see. We'll see.

RANT: DVDs. Jim pointed this out to me last night, but aren't DVDs getting so annoying? You can't skip anything these days... adverts, warnings, company logos.... and the menus take ages to get to the selection point as some designer shows off just how clever he is.... I hate it! Please let's have a return to DVDs which get straight to the point and let you enjoy the movie rather than letting them become as annoying as VHS.

Love you all.

Jae

A Busy Jae Is An Unhappy Jae

Busy, busy, busy!!!

Anyway the interview on Wednesday was actually fairly interesting. It was for a study by the University of Exeter on "Money management in gay and lesbian relationships". I expressed my distaste with civil partnerships (marriage or nothing!), and had to think about parts of my relationship with Jim that I haven't really expressed or dealt with before. Also reminded me... must sort out a pension! So resolution, I must have a pension plan by the end of February.

Yesterday at work was unpleasant shall we say and I'm glad that's over. Went out to Revolutions in Soho after to work with some work people to meet the new Accounts manager (again). Was cool but my fave part of the evening was walking back to Charing Cross. It's funny how attached I am to dates and places. I love Charing Cross Road. When I wander down it by myself I feel at home. Charing Cross station is the hub, the place that features in most adventures in my life so far. Some people have comfort blankets. I have a comfort street.

Jae - The Lab Rat

It's been a long time since I've been part of a study (last time I was helping Natalie). Well I am sitting in the bedroom, banished here by a lady named Maree from the University of Exeter while she interviews Jim. I'm next. More on this tomorrow.

Why do so many people confide their secrets in me? Today I held a mate in my arms while they cried their little heart out to me. What is it about me that makes people trust me? I know so many secrets it hurts. Secret abortions. Secret affairs. Secrets too awful to even anonymously mention. I wish I could make things better for these people. But I can't. I can only be there. A powerless Jae is an unhappy Jae. But if you ever need to talk; I'll be here.

Jason got to train a new guy today. Oh the power!

I love the Jesus versus Bush ad!! :o)

Harry Potter - Goblet Of Fire

Hmm... as a none Pottermaniac I feel I can view these films with a certain distance. This was pretty bad. The acting was terrible. The editing was too awful for mere words. It was too short for the story and too long for my bum's liking. It felt under developed and poorly realised. But I'm liking Ron and his brothers. I'm a secret ginger lover... :o)

But that's nothing compared to Philip Olivier...

Normal Service Will Resume Later Today.

I'm back! Miss me? I have the most awful cold, so please imagine coughing, sneezing and sniffling throughout posts until further notice.

Let's see what's happening in the news... another shooting north of London... Gary Glitter in trouble again... winter flu jabs run low... deja vu anyone?? God... I've stopped reading newspapers simply because I can usually guess what the stories will be and what each particular commentator will say about the headlines. YAWN!

Is This The Real Life, Is This Just Fantasy

Pretty shitty day so far... miserable people on the way to work put me in a homicidal mood, don't feel well and had to hang around outside work as people didn't turn up when they said they would. I am sure I said I'd never do an early again for this very reason... you live and learn I spose.

But doesn't sound like I've had as bad a day as poor Jim... lost luggage (totally lost luggage) and delayed flights and stuff... :(

Still don't believe me? You will.

My Complete Series of Eerie Indiana arrived today (the postman waking the downstairs people.. oops!)!!! Yay!!

When I was younger this was one of my fave shows, I had such a huge crush on Marshall (Omri Katz) when I was younger (yes I was younger than him then so no it wasn't some paedophilic fantasy!) Love this show...

Ok... so no one spotted what was wrong with the photo a couple of posts back?? I am disgusted... it was so obvious. He's wearing a blazer AND jeans!!!! SOOOOOOOOO wrong.

Jim gets home tomorrow... I can't wait to see him.

Got my haircut today... hmm... soooo much easier doing it after work... I was the only person there.

Get A Grip On Yourself

It's funny how I used to get really obsessed with particular songs (normally god awful ones) for weeks at a time. Get a Grip by Semisonic was one I'd spend hours surfing the music channels to find. How quickly my obsessions get forgotten.

In fact my obsessions are most often for rubbish things nobody else likes... Star Trek:Voyager. Maximum Overdrive. Every cheap horror movie/creature feature this side of 1980. Case in point this week I've watched Crocodile, Spiders 2, Arachnophobia (Ok so that's not a bad film, it's got John Goodman in it, who is brilliant!) and Shark (AH! that one was almost as bad as Shark Attack). If I can bring myself to face it I've still got Crocodile 2:Death Roll to watch. I think pouring acid into my eyes might be more pleasurable. Maybe a bit of Jeepers Creepers is in order to save me; it is after all part horror movie/part gay movie/all good. Love it. Justin Long, mmmm...

Anyway... also while I was in San Francisco I saw an ad for a movie called the Hole (No not THAT crap movie we all try to forget about) and wanted it mainly because it was "from the director of the Fluffer". I love the Fluffer, and thought hey cool a humourous take on the Ring where people watch a movie and turn gay 7 days later... Well I got my hands on it finally and found it's actually a soft core porn movie (the great thing about gay softcore movies is there just like hard core movies, just without the boring bits!). Sure that's great but am still in desperate need of some actual serious entertainment. If I have to watch yet another crappy actor I may become homicidal...

My fave star from the Hole... Derec Lang.

Went to John's house warming party in North Acton last night which was cool.

Oh bugger it... Maximum Overdrive needs a repeat viewing... If you've never heard Yeardley Smith off the Simpsons doing "proper" acting you are missing out... she makes this movie... and the AC/DC soundtrack rocks!!!

Halloween Producer Murdered

Very sad news. As you may or may not know, I LOVE horror movies. And Mr Akkad was a massive influence on my fave franchise... Halloween. He stayed loyal to that franchise even in it's lowest hours and shall be greatly missed.

Jae Falls Down and Other Stories

Hmm... been busy. Yesterday I headed to Acton with Sam and Meredith. Joined by Sam's Aussie room mate Sky for a curry at Wetherspoons, before we caught a bus for Shepherds Bush and some drinks at the Walkabout with another Sam (male this time) and a Polly. Was fun, left early though, slightly worse for wear from too many snakebites. As I headed down the escalators at Bank tube station I did something silly. I fell backwards and landed on my back on the escalators, cutting my hand and hurting my back. But mainly hurt my pride as had to spend 10 minutes waiting on the platform with people who'd seen me fall. Embarrassing!!!

Today, no work! Well kinda, we had a team building exercise in the Fleming Mayfair hotel near Green Park. Pretty nice, and the six of us did get some constructive things done. Food was awesome. Had a few drinks afterwards in a couple of pubs in Shepherds Market.

Got home and found two of the three black tetras were dead due to some temperature problems. Sorry Jim!!

"Godzilla" Croc Found

Godzilla. How cool!

Coming Out and In and Out and In And Out

Hmm... Natalie had a good point about the perpetual closetedness of homosexuality. New person at work at the moment and I managed to catch Kim outing me to her (not that I minded, that's all cool with me) just today. Which kinda proves Natalie's point.

I used to be pretty forward in coming out. At Three Valleys I came out almost immediately, mainly because me and Stacey (whom informed me today it's 38 days till here birthday, year in and year out the Stacey birthday countdown is as reliable as the tolling of Big Ben) were sharing mags (AXM, what was I thinking?) and Elina picked it up and forced my not very reluctant hand. But when I started at the new place I didn't bother, and for a while I didn't really correct people's assumption I was straight. That wasn't because I was ashamed, but because I couldn't be arsed.

Anyone else feel like this? It's mind numbingly tedious having to put up with people's assumption that I'm straight (no sarky comments Mr Jim please...) and really why should I constantly be forced to out myself? Next time I'm in that situation I will not come out. Just for fun of course... how long can I convince people I'm straight? Hmm...

What Could Have Been

Watching ITV's "My Husbands Secret Life". It's kind of made me ponder what might have been if I'd made different decisions in my life.

As a side note I'm always amazed by documentaries about gay people, it's just funny to look on gay men through the eyes of an outsider, as if we're strange and different. Bless the straight peoples innocence, little do they realise we are just the bloody same as them. And these gay men in the documentaries... these are not real gay men, least none I've ever met... they are so dumb! One guy just said "There just weren't any gay men in such and such town". Oh hun, how NAIVE! Actually I think gay men's naivety deserves another post!

I thank the Gods that I got over the "it's just a phase" thoughts when I was 14, even if my parents decided to ignore my coming out for a few more years. I just can't bear to imagine the heartache of not going out with men, the hassle of dating girls (EEK!), the dullness of life pretending to be somebody I wasn't.

The last years of school was soooo strange for me, as I continued to pretend to be straight while after school I'd be in a gay bar, or doing something far worse (better!) with a trick or two. It would have been a nightmare to continue that for any longer than I did... so I have to say I have nothing but compassion for the closeted men. I pray for the day NO ONE feels the need to hide their sexuality.

I'm guessing that'll happen around about 20 000 AD... roll on ... ;o)

Corkey's back at Bad Weeds. Praise Jesus!

With Jim away (miss ya hun, love you!), I'm feeling very lonely... so comment god damn it!!!! ;op

Jae: The Idiotic Consumer

AH! I have become the customer I hate. Somehow I've managed to forget to amend the postcode on my delivery address for an Amazon order so it's incorrect. AH! AH! I'll see if I receive it and if I don't I'll sheepishly contact them and tell them I am VERY stupid, apologise for my mistake and try and sort it out.

BASH MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL FOR BEING SO DUMB! And I only notice it after it's despatched despite checking the order every day for the last three days. DUMB DUMB DUMB.

In better news bought the New Statesman today (why? I hate that magazine... I just keep giving it one more chance) and it came with a free Green & Black Maya Gold chocolate bar. Truely divine.... mmmm...

We'll always have Paris?

Riots continue across France. What is this all about? Heresay and rumour seem to me to be the main causes, just like the recent riots in Birmingham. Don't listen to the mobs cries of "fighting racism". Last I checked cars and schools weren't racist. Burn Le Pen, then I'll believe you're fighting racism.

I heard one member of the mob on Channel 4 news say something along the lines of "It's time for them to stop treating us like dirt". Well young man maybe it's time you stopped flipping acting like dirt. There's a massive difference between basic unprincipled street violence and true protest. Let's just ask ourselves; what would Rosa Parks say?

Give me a peaceful protest against racism, a strike, even a march and I'll be there. But these outbreaks of young men on the rampage should not be tolerated. They dirty the fight against prejudice and should be treated as you'd treat a common criminal.

Home Alone

Hmm... time to arm myself with tins of paint, hot irons and exploding toilets?

That's right. Jim left today, heading for a two week stay in St Louis, Missouri (first class on BA no less). I miss him already. So I'm all alone, which means I'm thinking way too much, getting far too horny and eating junk. It's only been 9 hours.

No plans till next weekend either. Sad AND lonely. Joy.

Click on my Rent My Blog person. This week it's all about cigars.... ooo...

Gunpowder, Treason, and Totty

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'twas his intent
to blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below,
Poor old England to overthrow:
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, make the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip hoorah!
A penny loaf to feed the Pope.
A farthing o' cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down.
A faggot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar.
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head.
Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead.
Hip hip hoorah!
Hip hip hoorah!

Politically correct? Nah... but fun. Not too far from my own personal beliefs about the holier than thou Christian leadership... (JokE!)

Mum's got the flu so won't be visiting today. Bad in some ways but oh so good in others... :o) But hope she gets better soon. This means I'll probably be visiting Folkestone next Sunday.

Today is Guy Fawkes (that's pronounced "forks" for anyone outside the UK) Night and hopefully I can persuade Jim to come to a display with me... mmm... fireworks, hot dogs, glow sticks and er... fireworks. Yay! Wanna know more?

And just for Otis...

Jim Gives Jae A Crazy Idea

So over a roast pheasant dinner and a bottle of Pinot Grigio at Inside (our fave Greenwich restaurant) last night, Jim suggested I apply to join the police. I'm a little tired of customer service and feel it's time I start looking for something that interests me, as well as pays the bills (and the police force does that... in fact it's a lot more money than I'm on now!). Every career advisor I ever saw said "Join the police" and my Nan would probably collapse with excitement if I got to the passing out ceremony... So what does my Dear Constant Reader think?

Obviously I'd have to get fit first... but any reason why I shouldn't?

The Coke Addict

My Samhain resolution was to give up caffeine. I've gone two days now without any and don't I know it. Had an awful headache all day yesterday, it was most unpleasant. Had the same thing last year, but know that without all that caffiene in my system, I'll feel really good in about a day or so. It's going to be really hard, but I'm sure this time I'll be able to keep my caffeine habit in check.

Next... lose some weight. I'm turning into a whale... time to stop eating so many snacks, especially chocolate covered ones.

Just heard Kate Bush's King of the Mountain (I know, I'm so last week!). Really good. I love Kate Bush (it's an obsession a former Uncle [what was his name? James?] passed to me when I was younger. Yes I know my family relationships are most confused!). And I've finally realised they are not playing ABBA on the radio... it's Madonna! Note to self: keep up to date with latest music instead of relying on Gayborhood Radio's Music with Marshall on a Tuesday for all your music needs...

Anyone else getting a little too excited by the upcoming Narnia movie? I'll be less random tomorrow, once I'm over the cold turkey!

Nothing Much To Say

How the hell are you Dear Constant Reader?

More shamelessly pointless pics of cuties...
