Pictures Part 2

When near bears ensure you suspend the food from a wire at height.

Jim likes driving in his car

This is known as the Golden Gate Bridge. I was disappointed to find it wasn't made of gold... ;op

Jae still doesn't quite believe he was in a car on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Muir Woods were gorgeous but I think they are best left to your imagination... only so many amatuer pics of huge trees one can take...

It's a deer! I promise!!

Jim... you are soooo smooth!

Farewell San Francisco

Yesterday we headed up to Castro for our last American breakfast at Orphan Andy's. Hotcakes... how I shall miss you. Anyone know anywhere in London that does hotcakes? Bought the Spartacus guide at A Different Light. Love that book, but it's always sold out in London. :o)

Walked up to the panhandle and Golden Gate Park via Comix Experience. The park was a disappointment even if the Japanese tea garden was lovely and the botanical gardens primitive plants were enchanting!

Got a cab back to Castro and had a few (many) drinks at Harveys, and a fajita at La Tortilla . The most massive fajita I have ever seen in fact!! :o)

Rushed back so Jim could buy an air soft handgun.

Off to airport in 2 hours. :o( Goodbye San Francisco, it's been a blast!

It's A Jungle Out There

Monday morning. Got up early, and picked up aMustang convertible from the Hertz rental place around the block from us. Looked gorgeous, and we headed out of San Francisco and over the Golden Gate Bridge with the wind in my hair. Just needed a headscarf and we could have been Thelma and Louise. Was soooo cool. Went to Muir Woods which is the home of one of the last strands of original Redwood growth. Those trees sure are tall. Some appeared taller than Canary Wharf. Is Canary Wharf taller than 200 feet? Amazing. As we headed back to the car park along a hillside trail we cameupon two wild deer grazing right next to the path. :o) Lovely! Drove down from the woods to Muir Beach which is very pretty and we got our first (and possibly only!) glimpse of the Pacific Ocean proper. Magnificent.

Deciding not to head back to San Francisco we drove further north getting lost once or twice, but eventually ending up in Napa Valley which is Californias wine country. I have never seen so many vineyards in my life!! It was very beautiful.

Since almost day dot of my relationship with Jim, he has talked about Stag Leaps wine. So we spent some time looking for it, and eventually found the ranch. Did somewine tasting and settled on some wine to buy, which was quite lovely.

Headed back to San Francisco regretting leaving the top down only slightly as it grew chillier. Chillier by California standards anyway. It fell below 20 celsius! We have been blessed with great weather I have to say! Seeing some of the outstanding Californian countryside was brilliant.

Had a meal at Lou's Blue Bar, tried some Buffalo Wings (HOT!) didn't finish as portions were too big!!! Jim has taking a bit of a shining to some "air soft"guns we saw in a Spy Shop (no cameras allowed... it's a secret!!), and has spent the hours since then planning on getting them through customs (they are legal but they look and feel like a real gun!)

Todays our last full day... so better go have another adventure!

San Fran Is Freaking

Saturday night and we got cab to the Chinatown Gate (after the streetcar we were on stopped as the driver refused to go any further...). Wandered up and down in search of a restaurant, until we settled on the Empress of China. Good food, nice views over San Francisco and some of the nicest Asian waiter arse I've ever seen.

Sunday. Had breakfast at the International House of Pancakes. YUM! Then went to the Aquarium of the Bay. Really good. Slightly worried by the six foot Sevengill shark!!! Wandered in search of Buffalo Wings, but gave up and caught the streetcar to Powell and our usual line F to the Castro. Yesterday was the day of the Castro Street Fair!!! A bit like Soho Pride, only far better. Got cruised within five minutes as had wandered too far from Jim. Stayed far closer after that. Had a tarot reading with a gay psychic who told me that Jim and I were about to go through a rough patch while moving his hand ever further up my leg. Cruised and sexually abused by a gay psychic within mere moments. Yeah, sounds like a gay event!!

Headed back to Powell where... Jim bought me an iPod Nano!!!!!!! :o)

Quiet night really, most of which was spent searching for a restaurant with power! Got a McDonalds as was hungry at which point fishermens wharf's power returned!! GRRR....

Reporting Live From San Francisco - Jason At The Argonaut

Friday morning, and we were awake so early!! We left the hotel and decided to walk to the Castro. Up Hyde we wandered, which is one long hill! We walked and we walked, until we made it to the Mission. Deciding we were too hungry to go, we stopped at It's Toms Diner and had a proper American breakfast. Ok. I concede, maple syrup does go with bacon and hot cakes are better than our flimsy pancakes. I apologise to every American who I've told otherwise.

As we had to go to Alcatraz and were now running late, we braved a MUNI streetcar. Easy to use, but Americans treat public transport more as an informal gathering than a way of getting anywhere. Loud, chatty... nice but quite disconcerting for a Brit! Got back in time for our ferry. Headed over to Alcatraz which was AWESOME! Really felt the atmosphere, and the history, there. Walking round the exercise yard with the mist rolling over us was actually rather spooky.

Got the ferry back, dropped our stuff off at the hotel (the Argonaut!). We caught the streetcar straight to the Castro. The huge pride flag flying in the sky signalled that we had arrived. Pride flags flew everywhere. It's truely a brilliant place. I wish Soho was half as good. And it felt so bitchfree. Porn was sold openly unlike here where it's hidden in dark corners (even Virgin on Market Street had gay porn there for all to see!). Had drinks at Harveys, Moby Dick and Badlands. Then we went to Orphan Andys for a nice meal. Caught a streetcar to Powell and took a cable car to the hotel. COOL!

Today went up to Market via a cable car, this time with me clinging on the side for dear life. Jim is soooo evil sometimes. ;o) Headed to Orphan Andys for breakfast, had some drinks at Harveys then went shopping near Powell. I've got new clothes! Cheap too!!! :o) Also got Monk season 2. Great!!!

What Happened Next...

Tuesday 27 September. Someone throws themselves under a train at New Cross thus delaying Jae by two hours. Grr... selfish suicidals... do it on your own time!

Wednesday. Went on a work night out to Soho, starting at the Alphabet Bar. It was okay. If it had been in Folkestone it's attempt at looking like someones attic would have been cool. But not in Soho thank you. We moved on to some red bar starting with R where Champagne was drunk and Vince and Bonnie gave me some San Francisco tips.

Nineish we went to the Blues Bar, where I tried to pimp off some Americans, Bonnie and Peter had a conker fight (COOL!) and I said goodbye to Kiwi Sam, who I shall not see for a while. He was cool. And his replacement looks nothing like Colin Farrell (name of Andrea).

Walked Paul down to his bus. Thing I love about Soho is that it's surrounded by roads I know so no matter how drunk/lost I get I can always appear knowledgeable by leading people to their destinations. By a very roundabout route. :o)

Thursday. The day without end. Got up at stupidaclock, and headed for Heathrow, where we discovered Virgin Atlantic wanted to charge me50quid because I'm so tall! Laughed in their face. Anyway when I got on the plane found they had movedus anyway to bulkhead seats. So they lied to try and get someone to pay for something they have to do anyway. BASTARDS! Flight was eleven long hours but thanks to entertainment system (Spaced, Will and Grace, League of Gentlemen Apocalypse, Tarnation, Little Britain, and MissCongeniality 2!) helped us through. And the service waslovely and a million meals were served so Virgin, I forgive thee!!!

San Francisco. Wow! It's America! There are Americans, and big cars, and big roads, and big everything!! We got to the Hotel at 4pm local time, but that's about midnight by my body clock, so we... went out again!!! Our hotel is lovely, the room is HUGE!I'm sure the bathrooms in another time zone. Fishermens Wharf is asexpected. Tacky but fun. Had some clam chowder at Boudins, where I was renamed Tayson. Was accosted by Japanese tourists who wanted their picture taken with me. I was in a good mood, but made themusemy camera as well (pics of me with them will follow!!!). Jim got had for a $20 shoe shine on his trainers. FOOL! Saw the seals off Pier 39 and enjoyed the views to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Thursday the 29th of September 2005 was 32 hours long. PHEW! It's 2am here, but I'mwide awake... ah!Fucked up body clock.

And this space bar... messed up!!!

Jae's Last Post (Probably!) Before He Takes Over The United States

Please note US Immigration agents this in no way suggests I wish to overthrow the United States Government. And I am not a Communist *throws his Soviet star with Hammer and Sickle onto floor and remembers not to take a copy of the Morning Star with him on the plane*. Oh and I'm only a little bit gay (Jae please do not take Gay Times or Attitude with you!). And don't be cheeky. And don't mention the war (1812) or the Empire. And let's leave Bush bashing to the breeders. And abortion is so out of bounds as a topic of discussion. Ooo... and hey global warming ain't gonna disappear in a week, so leave it out!

Phew just a little bit of ettiquette to remember.... ah and with my current experience of Americans here at work also do not make any jokes that could be offensive to anyone in anyway. Americans seem way too fragile, bless their cotton socks. Oh and take clean socks!!!

Hmm... ok I think I've covered everything... WAIT... no kicking SUVs...

God, this travelling to America is very stressful, and I haven't even started packing yet!

Do Yourself A Favour

Hey!

Do you live in the UK? Do you want 24 meg broadband? Do you want one month free? Then go visit my mates Pauls new blog at BeThere24!!! He'll sort you out, and no he's not paying me!!!

Jae Is Going To San Francisco

Last night Sam  (http://www.livejournal.com/~srachel11) came over for a Chinese and a few drinks and got the honour of meeting Jim. Twas a nice evening, even if I had to avoid coming out to the Chinese lady ("where your brother? he brother or friend?"). Had a few pints at Richard 1st, probably our last out in the garden for the year if the weathers anything to go by!

Two days till I go to San Francisco!!! I am soooooooo excited now.  It'll be good just to have a break from work, I'm mean I've had to have over 4 weeks in a row here! Slavery! ;op

Oh yes Jim's work opened up their offices to friends and family so us and the kids dropped by...

Anyone know who's kids these are?

Jim realises it's a free bar behind him...

Step away from the rabbit...

Hmm... we lost some children and gained a gang of weirdos.

AH!

Ian's on TV!!!

Jae Goes Wilde

Oscar Wilde wrote one of my favourite books "The Picture of Dorian Gray"

And so I'm pleased to give you this link for hours of enjoyment. I wish I could write even half as well as he could.

Jae Will Never Understand Certain Things

Gay-priest ban won't end sexual abuses, some argue. Well it's good to know there are SOME people in the Catholic church with brains.

It has been a long time coming but that's the most insulting news headline I've ever seen. You mean banning gay men won't stop sex abuse???? Oh my God! Are you trying to tell us that being gay isn't the same as being a sexual predator??? Hold the front page!

And the editor of this news site is paid real money? For real news, from a sane source, go to the BBC's version.

Honestly guys... have you no eyes to see? Most abuse occurs within families. Most families consist of (dare I say it) hetrosexuals or closet cases. You do the math. Out and proud gay men? They're more interested in fucking their brains out down the local in the dark room than abusing some pre pubescent.

What the Catholic church really needs to do is ban priests. Let the Holy Spirit do the leg work.

Legacy

The remaining Holocaust survivors are starting to die. Wiesenthal funeral held in Israel

It's hard to imagine that not that far from where I am right now murder on the most disgusting scale occured, during the lifetime of my Nan. That's a blink of an eye in real terms. It is our duty never to forget World War 2 and all it's horrors, even after the last witness has died.

If we forget... then there will be hell to pay.

Jae's Campaign For Fabtastic Queers

written 25/09/05

Last night I sat reading Gay Times and yet another article about the commercial exploitation of the GLBT community and the homogenisation of the scene, when I could take it no longer. What has happened to us?

Back in 1998 when I was taking my first tentative steps out of the closet I remember the gay bars of Canterbury being full of interesting and exciting people. There were goths, freaks, trannies, lesbians (God forbid!), dirty old men and people best described (in the nicest possible way) as "what the fuck are they?". It was fun.

Now it's 2005. Take your pick of any gay bar or club in London. From Action through to XXL everyone is totally dull. Everyone looks the same whether they are all bears, or all twinks or the sad boring bastards wearing jeans AND a blazer in GAY. Conformity is the key. I haven't seen a pre op transexual in years, nor anyone I would think of as a fabulous freak.

What happened to subversion, or even simply being different to the breeders? We dress like straight people, talk like them and even follow the crowd like them. Whether it's rich tossers wearing jeans AND blazer (it's a pet peeve) to council trash chav scum we copy them!!!

I wander through the blogverse and find the same things happening, gay men who have been normalised. BORING!

So I want to know if anyone else feels like I do? Are we just going to sit back and become like everyone else? Whatever happens... we must stop the evil jeans AND blazer squad before it's too late. Let's do something about it!

Let's get back our immaturity, our insecurity, our tradegies! Being gay ain't just about shagging men!! As Judy Garland (praise be!) once sang...

Be a clown,
Be a clown,
All the world loves a clown
Act the fool, play the calf
And you'll always have the last laugh,
Wear the cap and the bells
And you'll rate with all the great swells,
If you become a doctor, folks'll face you with dread,
If you become a dentist, they'll be glad when you're dead,
You'll get a bigger hand if you can stand on your head.
Be a clown, be a clown, be a clown!

Jae Loves A Nice Start To The Morning

Email post so links may not work, will tidy up later...

A hug from Jim, a nice peaceful non busy commute to work and then a trip in an elevator with the cutest guy I've seen in a long, long time (Jim not included) ...

Short black hair, a baseball cap tilted sideways (not a chav one but a proper American baseball one), slim, wearing a short sleeve t-shirt over a long sleeve, with knee length denim shorts and dark trainers. Mmm... that skater boi look is sooooo good.

Monk got a mention in G2 (http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,,1576728,00.html) today. Love that show, people please watch it, it's back on BBC 2 October 1st, afternoon time. It's BRILLIANT!

Maureen Lipman in G2 annoyed me (http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,,1576480,00.html) and I shall respond to her in a long moany post this weekend which I'm sure you will all look forward to. ;op If you think customer servants are bad... wait till you meet the customers!

Jae Goes To The Northern Down Under Again

Went back to Acton last night via the slowest tube train in history. JOY! Had a lovely chicken caesar salad at Sam's before heading out with her, Lindsey and Lindsey's Aussie boyfriend Matt to a pub called the Mill Hill. Pretty cool evening, and Lindsey... Matt is CUTE! Marry him immediately! :o)

Plans ahead.. probably doing something tomorrow night, Wednesday night shall be heading for a work night out in Soho to the Alphabet Bar, Thursday I shall be in San Francisco, and Monday Sam is probably coming to Greenwich for a reciprocal meal... All fun... See I'm starting to get a life!!! WOW!!!

Jae Is BORED

I fancy doing something random. Random but cheap and that doesn't interrupt work. Ideas on a postcard (or in a comment) please!

News still slow. Which is a good thing meaning we are only operating at a normal level of badness as opposed to worse than normal (which considering how bad things normally are is really crappy).

We'll forget about the whole Basra thing. Hey we are there to support our Iraqi friends remember, by bulldozing their police stations with tanks... SAS guys please answer me this... why were you stopped in the first place?

I'd Like To Thank You All!

Hello Dear Constant Reader and those just searching for porn!

Thanks for all the lovely comments and emails of late. The emails are fascinating... am I to believe that I have so many Dear Constant Readers who love my blog, and read it all the time and just happen to want to see certain pictures?

Cos guys, please don't send me butt kissing emails, I hate sycophants. If you want something you only need to ask nicely, and not talk to me like I'm a child. I'm not dissing the lovely emails. Just be honest with me, and I'll be a lot happier doing what you ask.

:o)

I am getting very excited about my trip to San Francisco. Just a little more than a week to go... ...

Antipodean Town

Yesterday I escaped the house for an evening in Acton with Sam R from work. Twas fairly cool, her house is MASSIVE! Had dinner at the local Spoons (that's like my 99th spoons ;op) and then went to the Redback which is a dodgy but pretty cool bar for those from the southern hemisphere. Everyone in Acton seems to be Aussie, Kiwi, or from small s south Africa. They served snakebite blacks and had live rock music... BRILLIANT!

Went back to Sam's for some Strongbow Super (cheap but tasty!!!)

I think I'm becoming obsessed with Randy Orton the WWE wrestling star... WWE (when it was WWF) was more only source of male flesh before we got the internet... It should get an award for services to Gay Youth.

Inconsistency

Ok so Iran wants to go nuclear. I agree any country going nuclear is pretty bad. But please will someone explain to me why Iran shouldn't be allowed nuclear weapons yet other countries should be allowed to have them?

What's our stance really saying? That nuclear weapons are bad in general? No it's sadly not. What it is saying is we don't want you to have them because we don't like you.

I'm not against a nuclear deterrant. I believe it's an important part of our defense. But we cannot hope to keep it, and not allow proliferation. We either give them up, or we put up with increased risk. We can't be two faced about this!

Brent Corrigan - The Saga Continues

Go see this forun at juicygoo.com for the most up to date info on the whole thing. Thanks to Jim for finding it!

I would post my thoughts on it but then this post would probably get deleted by the evil Google police for being too controversial... and those of you with brains can probably work out where I stand in the whole debate.

Jae Wouldn't Mind Being Pinned By This One

Wrestlers. Don't you just love them?

Jae Wants To Be In San Francisco NOW

I really, really do!

Last night wandered into town along the Albert Embankment. Met Jim at Charing Cross and had a few drinks in Retro, headed home and had another drink in the George and Dragon (I feel so dirty!).

I'm putting weight on again. Grr... bodily functions are bloody annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

News is slow, nothing even remotely interesting. So...

My favourite porn star may be underage!. Well that is under 18, not under 16. So really it's only going to shock the illiberals. I've decided for the time being to not post any more naked men, so for your enjoyment I present a clothed Brent Corrigan...

Jae's Life Trundles Ever Onwards

Hard to believe I've been writing in this thing for over 4 years!! Here I am living in Greenwich with a lovely boyfriend, working in London in a job paying good money for what it is, and I am enjoying life. Certainly not where I imagined myself all those years ago. When I was really young I thought I'd end up bobbing along the Amazon in search of some weird and wonderful creatures as an ecologist/zoologist/cryptozoologist. Then I thought one day I'd spend my time helping others through life's troubles as a social worker or a carer.

Instead I'm in customer service. That's why I love life, always unpredictable, and interesting. Who knows what I'll be doing in 4 years time (when I'll be 26! OMG!)

Hmm.. so Wednesday Jim was out with Paul so I thought I'd have a nice relaxing evening to myself. I settled down in my dressing gown with Space Race and some Diet Coke. Half nine a drunk Jim fell through the door, threw some clothes at me and forced me to go down to the George and Dragon with him (yeah right, beer drinking requires no coercion). There was no stripper, just one barmaid and David (the guy whose phone number I managed to get down the Rose and Crown much to Jim's continued annoyance). Then headed to the Chinese where Jim gave his phone number to the owner (SLUT!). It was actually so she can phone him when she next makes rice cakes... :o) I love that little Chinese, lovely food.

Am starting to get quite excited about my upcoming trip to San Francisco... can't wait!!!!!!!!!! :o)

Jae's Awful Spelling

My grammar and spelling reach new heights of awful each and every day. I can tell this is the case because of the incredible amount of searches that come to my site badly spelt. Are you looking for pitures? cabury world? I'm sure I can't help you! And what on Earth is a scapper? Appears there may be some in India though if one of my visitors is to be trusted.

Note to self get some English lessons!

Things Jae Loves About The Noughties

1) being able to pause TV shows. How cool is that??? Right now I should be watching the Space Race but fancied doing this instead... so I paused it. Still freaks me out in the best possible way!
2) Google. Where would I be without Google Maps, Gmail or the new BlogSearch? Not to mention Google News
3) Internet Porn
4) iPod's
5) Blogging
6) Reality TV
7) The death of reality TV
8) Cheap flights
9) Smaller newspapers
10) The beginning of the end of homophobia in Britain.

Run Tinkerbell Run!

Yesterday was work night out as yet another person is leaving. Was cool, although the ubiqitous frisbee did appear and although I did start to have a throw my managers shouts of "Run Tinkerbell Run" soon put me off. Had some drinks in the park outside the Lavendar before the alcoholics among us moved onto Picos for a meal, which was rather nice. Chicken Peri Peri... yum!

I have to say I may well have been a little bit drunk.

My Powerbooks charger is broke, and I am having to update via email from work at the moment as obviously I only realised it was broke after my Mac switched itself off. Joy. Am bidding on another one but it's very annoying!  As I am updating via email the quality of presentation shall be even worse than normal. Be warned!

In the news... stupid people cause problems at some petrol stations... it really is true; civilisation is only ever three missed meals away from anarchy.

People who have sent me emails... I will deal with them as soon as possible!

Jae and Jim Go Mystical

Sunday, the kids were away early and we headed out to get some mushrooms for breakfast. Jim sidetracked us by disappearing into the Coach and Horses for a pint, first customers! Roll on 24 hour opening! Then we won't have to wait till eleven!

Jim then booked himself in for a Tarot reading at one of the market stools, while I went and purchased some stones for spellcasting at the local magix shop. Bought so many I got a free pouch!

Jim's Tarot reading was funny, while he was being sorted out I was forced to chat with the readers psychic friend. Ah... she was a card. Jim's reading was fairly standard, my particular favourite part was "Relationship wise you have got what you dreamed of". :o)

As a pagan, I believe you should self divine, not rely upon someone else, but getting a Tarot reading is fun, and at only £5.00 it was the same price as my tiny piece of Italian nougat... so BARGAIN!

The new Guardian was released today... I like it. Since I moved to London I've had to switch to reading the bland Independent, which is less anti social to read on a packed commuter train, but less fun than my beloved Graniuad. Loving the new style, just hope people stop referring to it as Berliner as it's a tad annoying, although I don't quite know why. Now all they need is to get Julie Burchill back on a Saturday, and the Editor magazine on a Friday and I shall be happy as Larry.

Just Another Day In Northern Ireland

Why do we allow it to continue? Northern Ireland may as well be on the other side of the world. There you can be chucked out of your house by your neighbours just for saying the wrong thing. There rule of law is whatever someone decides it to be, hmm... the police can deal with him, and we'll deal with this thief. A knee capping should do it.

What is it all about? I used to, being the leftie liberal I am, think it was the nasty Protestants against Catholics who were just fighting for equal rights and treatment. But it isn't. It's tribal warfare between evermore disgusting and grotesque groups of people. With a whole bunch of innocents caught in the middle. Ethnic minorities, homosexuals, and law abiding families trying to survive in a province filled with stupid hatred and brain numbing poverty. It's time the British and Irish Governments did something about the constant rioting, fighting and law breaking... that's up to them obviously to work out a long term solution. May I suggest why not shut both sides churchs till they are grown up enough to call themselves Christian. Cruel but hey they might get together to fight a common foe. (Please note am not serious about that, just think it'd be rather amusing... in a warped way).

Oh and exile Dr Paisley to the South Sandwich Islands. It's the only way. I am serious about that.

Jae Wants To Know Why You Want To Marry!

Kevin McDaid and Mark Feehily have gotten engaged. Hmm... I know I bang on about this subject a lot, but why do gay men want to get married?? What is it about marriage, a decrepit and pointless institution now that it's original purpose has been distorted by the idea of "romantic love", that makes people want to keep on getting hitched?

But I wish everyone who gets married well, and I will fight for your rights to be dull (well not fight, quietly support you from this armchair here). Against such adverseries as the "Verminator" who wants to veto California's gay marriage bill.

So why do you want to get married, or why do you agree with me?

I'm just going to have to face it. I'll never understand peoples desire to marry (here's a crazy idea, why not just tell the other person you love them, and spend the money on something nice), and I'll never understand conservatives.

Elsewhere... should I set up a new blog at www.jaekay.co.uk? A vblog?

Flying Giant Reptiles, Batman!

Oh yeah, did you see this story? Wow! Imagine what having one of those swoop over you would have been like! A 60 foot wingspan, imagine the sound!

Brings into perspective stories of Thunderbirds, midgets compared to these ancient goliaths!

Jae's Glad It's The Weekend

Had a team lunch today which was cool, gave me something to look forward to during the morning anyway! No plans this weekend. Just got back from Richard the 1st... just not in the mood today.

Jae Gets Stuck In A Lift

I hate lifts. I used to be so petrified of them that I wouldn't get on them for even a trip up one level. It all stems from watching some old movie, where a lift falls down it's shaft and smashes it millions of pieces, when I was very young. I still find them a little "uncomfortable".

Today eight of us boarded the lift to our office. Chris pipes up "Wouldn't be funny if the lift broke down?" Two seconds later and it stops. Dead. We spent an hour in there, although my spirits were lifted when we heard a man outside "This is the London Fire Brigade". Ya firemen I thought, and kept thinking till I saw them. DISAPPOINTING! Oh well those thoughts at least kept me from freaking out!!!

Anyway I know the other seven people a whole lot better now!!

Jae Is Censored By Blogger

Good lord! All I did was publish one picture of Kevin McDaid naked and wham bam, the post is deleted as "illegal" content. I don't mind, now it gives me something to moan about for the next few days!!! Little Goody Two Shoes shows his bad side... Cor this makes me feel like a rebel.

That has cheered me up this morning...

The Good News and The Bad News

California, we love you!. Now here's a good example of politicians doing their job and leading the people, as opposed to following them. No offense but our politicians have become such bland and passive arse lickers to keep their jobs that we may as well not bother having elections. Good to see some still have balls of steel!

Shame some others don't have two brain cells to rub together. Homophobes, I am bored and tired of putting up with your shit, who the fuck are you to tell us we can't do what you can do??? Grrr...

And when will some men learn? Women are your equals. Get over it!

And I thought the Bible said give unto Caesar what is Caesars. I think the Council Tax is grossly unfair. But let's vote out Blair, not break the law guys!

Goodbye Multicultural Jae

Over the last year the debate over the merits of multiculturalism has raged without end. I would always have labelled myself a multiculturalist. As a pinko, leftie liberal I believed that everyone should be allowed to live their life as they wanted, and subscribe to whatever culture they wanted to. But my beliefs are based on a very important concept of "And ye harm none do what thou will". That concept is the central tenet of my lifestyle. That is why the concept of community and of family becomes daily more remote and downright dangerous in my estimations. Communities and families control cultural mores, destroying freedom.

Allowing all communities total freedom to live their own "cultures" is wrong. I've come to believe that now. How can I believe that men and women are totally equal, that gay men and women are equal to hetrosexuals, that sexual morals are less important that safe sex, and still support communities that support forced marriage? Or Death to Homosexuals? (Old story but I think it illustrates my point!

So I solemnly promise that I shall not tolerate the intolerant, defend the indefensible, or put up with other liberals disgusting support of hardline Muslims, nor Christians support of their fundamentalist leaders. Time we defended our liberal democracy against those who seek to spread their malicious culture, and undermine our freedoms... even if they are Scottish

Little Shop Of Horror

I have had the theme tune to Little Shop of Horror stuck in my head for the last two days. I just can't seem to shake it. It's very annoying! It's even more annoying because it's the kind of song I feel like breaking out into a dance to, but this would not be too wise a move when on the 08:08 Charing Cross service! :op London commuters are highly territorial, any infringement of their space is met with a very stern look indeed!

Went out last night with a few people from work to the Lavendar, played various drinking games and a good time. Why is it, whenever I'm a little worse for wear, there are always delays with the trains going home??? God... I hate waiting at train stations when I'm rat arsed. Never a good thing!

A Quiet Day In...

So Saturday we decided to have a quiet day in. We managed it till about two when we got hungry and went in search of food. Our search took us into town and to the Walkabout near Temple. I forgot football was on, and was momentarily suprised by the huge crowd in the pub. It was cool, but I hate football and there was no chance of food, so after a drink we headed up to the Strand, had a browse through the BBC Shop (a trip down memory lane!!) at Bush House before another drinks at Kudos.

I like Kudos, I think it is quite a cool little bar. I've had a few nice days in that place. Finally food was found in Tokyo diner. I can never understand why that place isn't packed to the rafters, cheap and delicious food served darn quick. Yum! We had dessert at the Haagen Daz restaurant on Leicester Square. Double Yum!

Went shopping in HMV and wandered around the Trocerdero. Had a few drinks in Comptons and GAY. Saw Josh Rafter (saw Brian May on Friday night and Jim was at the gym with Graham Norton on Thursday... go us!) Then we headed to the Theatre Royal Haymarket to see a preview showing of a Few Good Men, with Rob Lowe and John Barrowman (PHWOAR!). Yes that John Barrowman! Captain Jack in Doctor Who... love him. It was very good, and a lot more amusing than I would have imagined. Having not seen the movie, I can judge it on its own merits. Go see it!!!

Then headed home via Burger King.

Jae Goes Out

Wandered to Charing Cross from Vauxhall station, as couldn't be bothered with trains. Was a gorgeous walk along the South Bank.

Went out with Jim to Retro Bar last night, had a few drinks and played loads of quiz games on the machine. Won Nothing. :o)

Had a Pizza Express, then went to the Edge on Soho Square before heading home. Nice to get out and about in town for once.

Thank God For Hurricane Katrina

Christians spend little time in spreading hatred and their appalling biblical knowledge, and understanding is almost laughable.

God hates gay people so much he'll happily destroy the lives of thousands just to stop us having a party.. OR NOT!!!

No wonder I gave up Christianity when I became old enough to understand that most Christians are a little bit scary.

Hurry Give Us Money!!!

Oh yes. I feel bad for the people of New Orleans and the other areas affected by Katrina. I really do. I cannot imagine how awful it must be for those who are trapped without hope of relief.

But I nearly broke something when I heard President Bush asking for relief money from the nations of the world. Erm... hands up to the nation which only begrudingly gave money to the 2004 tsunami? Erm... which nation has just spent loads of money liberating Iraq when they should have been looking for Osama Bin Laden? Which nation is the richest in the world? I have many American friends here in Britain and I feel awful saying this but.... the poor of New Orleans didn't just magic themselves into existence. They are Americas self made problem. It's time America cleared up its mess.

Maybe in the future you will look after the poor, and the unfortunate. Maybe in the future you will not allow a situation in which the most needy are the ones who can't escape oncoming disaster. Maybe in the future you will make sure President Bush isn't on holiday all the bloody time.. it's only 8 years of his fucking life. He can relax all he wants after he's finished!!!! He sent the troops away, and left your homeland unable to respond to disaster.. remember that.

Wowser

I was pleased to find my mates Cecilia's family were okay today. They live in Louisiana, and were evacuated, their house is fine tho, although the beach house is gone.

See the latest on Katrina here. Some of the looters they have been interviewing on TV are classic... "the Police told me to do it...". Priceless.

Canada. Gay marriage is legal... and now you can commit gay adultery. Come on, it's what all the cool kids are doing!!! Sometimes I can't help we lose something precious with each piece of homosexual regulation... I still firmly believe we should be saving heterosexuals from their destructive lifestyle. Not joining them.

A beginning in Lebanon for the gay community. The start of a descent in to mediocrity?

Gay Men of the World... Get Informed

Ok... who didn't know you could be hung for being gay in Iran? Please do not be afraid to tell me... Now if you are straight this is forgiveable... but I am constantly amazed by how little gay men know about the countries they visit and the regimes they support...

Now there are calls for Government warnings to be better. Now if you are too ignorant to know about the suffering and pain inflicted upon your fellow homosexuals in the countries you visit surely you deserve just about anything you get? People travel to foreign countries without learning the first thing about customs, laws or basic knowledge. These people may wish to live by the seat of their pants. Let them. I'm 22 years old. I know that travelling to Pakistan wouldn't be a barrel of laughs for me. I don't need any government to tell me this. I have lost any tolerance I once had for the ignorant.

Anyhow... personally we have booked the trip to San Francisco on the 28th September... fuck work... Let's go party (and possibly find the mayor so we can hug him)...

Yesterday Jim bought me new clothes and we had lunch in our favourite dim sum place. Ooo... and then we bought loads of travel guides for San Francisco....

Jae's Gaydar Strikes Again

I predicted Stephen Gately, and yes I admit... I predicted Mark Feehily too... according to this story he's gay and going out with the delicious Kevin McDaid of V. Oh I just love being right.... Especially when there's too very cute guys involved...

And neo nazis try to ruin Manchester Pride... fat chance you bastards!
Reason!

I've always wondered why people obsess over ancient crimes. Now if you were somehow related to a victim/criminal or worked on the case then I could understand. But people who obsess over cases such as Jack the Ripper usually leave me with the opinion that they are very macarbe and a little disturbed... maybe they forget that it's real life, and real girls were viciously murdered. It's not a puzzle... it's a disgusting crime!!

Thankfully I'm not the only one who feels this way... Joan Smith of the Independent

Bobbing Along

The kids turned up yesterday and we took them on a three hour cruise of the Thames, up to the Thames Barrier, down to Westminster and back home to Greenwich. I would have enjoyed it if I wasn't so damn tired!!!

Today our dreams of travelling to Osaka were ruined as we have to have the kids that weekend... looks like instead we shall go a week earlier... to San Francisco!!!!!!

Jurassic Park IV

I'll let you into a little secret. I used to be massively obsessed with dinosaurs. As a child I could name everything from a parasaurolophus (don't quote me on the spelling any more though!) to a baronyx. And then Jurassic Park came out, I read the book before I saw the movie (and not many 10 year olds could say that) and fell in love with the franchise. People say the Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 were "disappointing" but let's face it, they were pretty darn good considering they were sequels. I just love dinosaurs... So yes it's time to start getting excited as JPIV looks like it is still on the cards according to this website.

PART THREE: Jae and Jim Take Warsaw...

We arrived in Warsaw at half seven in the morning after a 12 hour train journey... luckily Jim is a gold member at Warsaw Marriot so we could check in that early!!!!!! Had a wash, and a rest before we tackled the city's metro and headed first to the Monument of the Warsaw Uprising... a sombre memorial to one of the great acts of bravery of the second world war...then we wandered through the old town, to Old Town Square. Now considering this was all rebuilt after 1945 it looks amazing. People like to say Warsaw is ugly... they obviously didn't go to the right places. Some parts of Warsaw are awesome. We wandered slowly down past the Royal Palace, King Sigsmunds Column (every country likes to a see a hero's nice, big column...), the Presidents Palace, the touching Tomb of The Unknown Soldier, and strolled through the beautiful Ogrod Saski. A wander round the Palace of Culture (which we could see from our hotel room which overlooks it...) made us hungry and we headed to Champions Sports bar for the biggest burger I've ever eaten (800g!!!!!!).

Rested before heading to Nowy Striat and Sense Bar, where we stayed for the rest of the evening while Lukas the bar men randomly made us cocktails and added them to our tab... I have not been that drunk on very many occassions, and spent the night sleeping on the floor... I was annoyed with Jim for some reason lost in the blur of alcohol... Jim made a date with Lukas, but didn;'t keep it... slut... ;o)

Wednesday was thus a day of rest... all the previous weeks drinking and walking had caught us up and as we had done 70% of tourist Warsaw we had a quick wander, a KFC and retired to our hotel for movie watching, and then a meal on the 40th floor in the Panorama bar.

Thursday we headed across the Vistula to the Russian Market which was filled with shoe stalls... we quickly realised these were a cover for dodgy DVD sales.. mainly porn... straight porn... god darn it... a whole morning was spent there but nothing purchased. But as the day was sooooo hot most of the men were topless, and most of those men were quite hunky... so hey not biggy!!

Thursday night caught train back to Prague.

Friday we had a breakfast at Ebel again, before heading the plane station... finally got home at 7.00pm...

Today has been exhausting, but I'll tell you about that some other time....
Part 2....

This is by no means a full account of my holiday, and pictures will follow shortly, but I thought I better write it up asap, so I don't forget too much!!!

Saturday we got up and wandered up to Hradcany for some Gulas and sun... we sweated like pigs on our way up the hill as it was soooo hot!!! Wandered back down to the Valdstejnska zahrada, some gorgeous gardens down in Mala Strana. Had lunch at Atmosphere (Jim and his thing for cute barmen!!) before wandering as fair distance shopping and then discovered the joys of Albert supermarket... we need one over here!!! On way spotted a mad crossing guard guarding the Charles Bridge crossing. He was so funny shouting at any one who dared look like they might cross the road. Went to a nice bar on U jame (didn't take the name God darn it!!) before visiting a restaurant on Vaclavske nam. which I forget the name of, but they did a 1kilo steak challenge... may have to try that when I go back!!!

Finished the night off in Friends.

Sunday we headed out of the centre slightly, and made our way up the TV Tower, which isn't as ugly as people say... had lunch up there before heading back to town and Muzeum which was excellent... they zoology exhibition was outstanding... Had a few drinks in a bar named Chateau before dinner at a lovely restaurant called Don Giovanni, before drinks at Friends...

Monday had breakfast at an Ebel Coffee House where we saw crazy crossing guy again! Explored Mala Strana some more, lunch at Atmosphere, drinks at Chateau, dinner at Sandwich King and then.... we headed to the train station... our sleeper to Warsaw awaited...

Jae and Jims Second European Tour Part 1

Friday: Arriving early at the airport, we managed to get priority boarding on Easyjet, due to me height, and we were pleasantly surprised with the service. The flight was delayed, and filled with stag parties making homophobic jokes about the air steward, but went okay... got to Prague, and got the taxi bus to the hotel... everything is still thankfully the same!!!!

We headed to Atmosphere, where Jim took a shining to the bar man, and had massive amounts of food and beer for a fiver. Love Prague. Then we went to Friends for a few drinks, had a meal at Karaclava, and then partied till midnight at Karlovy Lazne, where there was a crazy dancing dude who was soooo cool in a sad way...

So pleased to be in Prague!!!

Finally, a little out of the box thinking...

Anyone seen this story? What an idea! I've spent years bemused by well meaning conservationists. They seem determined to keep everything the same, allowing no change, or adaption. This is self defeating and will eventually lead to the end of the species they are desperate to preserve. I agree we should stop poaching, and killing. But let's not wrap animals up in cotton wool, and kill them slowly with our love.

The idea of transferring species would be one hell of a good way to kick start evolution, the short term effects are messy (as can be seen by the alien species all over the world) but ultimately nature will always find a balance if left to it's own devices. Even thought there's a 99% chance nothing will come of the idea, I'm glad to see some scientists are still pushing the boundaries.

One more sleep until Prague!!! So I shan't be posting as much... but as I will be in the Marriot in both Prague and Warsaw, with access to the posh lounge, I'll blog occassionally... but for now....

OMG He's Wearing That Top With THOSE Trousers

Well that's the usual cause of gay horror, but there's something new in town.... Hellbent the movie. As a huge horror fan, and a rather gay one, I think it looks like it'll at least be a Friday the13th Part 3 level of a movie...

Thanks to Oh La La Paris for pointing it out!!!!

hellbent... mmm....

A Womans Right

What with the strange things Michael Buerk has been saying and with a
particularly sickening Wife Swap on Monday I've begun to wonder if I'm
the only person who thinks men and women should be totally equal.

I don't mean equal but different. I mean equal. This whole gender
thing was created by hetrosexuals, who in my opinion should not be
allowed to deal with anything as they create chaos whereever they go
(see World War 2, Channel 5, and the oppression of homosexuals across
the last century). Men and women are equal, bar a few physiological
differences they are the same. All members of one race (the human
one). Why is it always a them and us thing? Why does everyone say
things like "well he is a man" and "I'll never understand women". If
you can't understand women you'd have to be a bloody useless
hetrosexual man!!! STOOPID.

Now I treat everyone the same, I hold doors open for anyone
(especially if they are cute....). I don't act any differently when in
mixed or single sex groups (cept obviously it'd be hard to find a
single sex female group with me in it, but you know what I mean!). My
Mum brought me up to respect everyone who deserves it, and she brought
me up with the view that women can do everything men can do...

Am I the only one???

Osaka?

It is now 80% certain that I will be heading to Osaka, Japan at the beginning of October bringing my total return plane trips in 13 months (October 2004 - November 2005) to 6!!! I'm sure I'll be way over my environmental quota of plane trips. Oh well... Japan! if we do go it'll be my first trip outside Europe. Awesome.

Just got back from a trip to Hemel Hempsted to look after the kids at their house. Jim made me watch the funniest movie I've ever seen... his wedding video. Really bizarre watching it tho, like looking through a looking glass to an alternate dimension. There was a slim (horribly so) Jim dressed in full naval uniform marrying a woman... crazy stuff!!!! The cameraman had spent too much time at media school... it was hilariously badly filmed.

Friday was fun, if sad. I liked Azin, she was funny. It's a shame to see yet another fun person leave... ended up with me a 3 others playing frisbee in the dark... none too bad.

Jim just came out to his Mum on the phone... OMG!!!! What an amazing step...

My Blog Birthday

On the 23rd of this month my blog will quietly reach it's 4 year
birthday! Quietly as I will be terrorising the inhabitants of Prague
rather than blogging (well they have got internet access at the
Marriott so that's not a promise).

This blog was started to be a journal of my experiences at university,
it quickly outlived that debacle and became the one constant in my
life. No matter where I was, who I was with, or what I was wearing, I
could always log onto the web and there would be my blog same as
always.

And although the readers have changed (from flatmates to friends to
strangers to my current crazy random searchers and surfers) and most
of the blogs that were around when I started have slowly died (check
the few links I have and you'll see a lot of dying blogs :o( ). But
the blog still survives... Thank you Dear Constant Reader for
listening...

Jae's 3 Day Challenge!

Yes that's right folks, Jae has set himself a challenge!

For the next 3 days I shall be attempting to be positive, upbeat and
bloody annoyingly cheerful! Now I've gotten a few raised eyebrows
about this at work, but I'll show them!

The reason for this is I am being way too negative at the moment,
moaning and whinging like a British fool! No more!

Love The Sinner Not The Sin

I should find it hard to feel sympathy for Muslims. As a homosexual, whose religion teaches absolute tolerance, I find militant Islam disgusting. Allah who?

But, God darn it, I find myself leaping to defend their right to freedom of speech, their right to dislike Britain if they want to. I'm sorry but in this day and age treason is ubsurd!!! See here for the latest. I dislike Britain in a lot of ways... have you meet British people? They are among the most stupid group of people I have encountered. They moan and complain constantly. Sheesh, I'm doing it now!! They are uncultured swine.

Now don't get me wrong, there's plenty to love about this country, but our knee jerk reaction to the actions of a handful of individuals would be funny if the consequences weren't so scary...

First they came for the Muslims...

Three Weddings and a Punch Up

Brain dump ahead.

Thursday evening and a work night out. Got a taxi through the City to Shoreditch. The City is a gorgeous place in the evening. The architecture is amazing isn't it? Got to Shoreditch, and had a quick drink in the Lounge Lover bar. It's a very expensive, overly showy bar for the Wannabes (I'll explain later). After that we all moved on to Les Trois Garcons which is a very expensive, very kitsch restaurant which is part of the same business as Lounge Lover. The story behind it is a story of love. Long story short, this is the first restaurant in the world to be inspired by a spit roast. Nuff said. The food was awesome, and the wine and champagne flowed freely as it was my managing directors wedding celebration meal. Had a laugh, even if certain things were playing on my mind and not allowing me to relax. Service exquisite. Then back to the Lounge Lover before a taxi home.

Friday caught a train with Jim to Westenhanger. Mum was getting married!!! she had finally agreed to marry Tony. The service was held in Folkestone registry office and was great. There was only a few of us (the Twins, Jim, Martine and Nick, Nan, Billy and Fran and Rhys). Almost everyone laughed and smiled their way through the brief but slapstick ceremony. Jim and I were the witnesses (how grown up!!). We then retired to Mum's house for a small buffet and some bucks fizz with a few neighbours. Very low key, VERY CLASSY, and extremely happy. Just the way a wedding should be. After the brief celebrations were over the above named, minus Nan, headed up to Harlow and the Premier Travel Inn.

We checked in, and Jim and I had a double room. We've been in a few hotels before and nothing has ever been said but this time we got a polite but embarassing "You do know that's a double as in..." receptionist raises her eyebrows suggestively. "Yes I know!"

We quickly made ourselves comfortable in the bar and was joined by David and his mate Tim. David was getting married in the morning!! Needless to say several people got rather drunk and after having a nice if embarassing meal (the men of the family learing and cat calling at every woman in sight) we fell out in the car park where several teenage boys were waiting for taxis. The boys quickly swooped to my side to question me aboutm my height and they were generally friendly. However being experienced in the ways of chavs I understood this to be a sounding off. They were checking to see my suitability for possible fighting. They bored of me as they realised I was not fighting material (i.e. there was no way in hell they'd get me into a situation where they could start one!). Seeing that Jim was completely pissed I decide to remove him from the situation as to avoid him being mouthy and getting into trouble. I thought Mum and Martine would get their families and do the same. I fell quickly into a deep sleep in my comfy hotel room and forgot about the outside world.

Saturday morning... there was a missed call from Mum at 1am in the morning. I phoned her to see what the problem was. "there's been a fight". Now having correlated the various versions of events here is the definitive report.

The Kay family are stupid!!! A 17 year old boy (CHILD!) got out of his fiesta. Tony made some unnecessary remarks about this (suggesting it was a crap car). The kid became offended (strange huh?) and Mum got bored of listening to him so covered the boys mouth with her hand (clever move, that'll calm him down). He called Tony a fat cunt and David thought the kid had made the remark about Martine (who is David's sister). David moved Mum aside and began laying into the kid. (David is a large man and this kid was by all accounts small). Nick began to calm the situation, and things may have ended there. Now the teenagers who I had meet were at this time destroying a car around the corner. They must of heard the commotion and decide a fight was a fight. They came running around the corner and knocked Tony and David to the ground kicking and beating them severely. Mum and Martine through themselves over the men to protect them, while Tim and Nick tried to calm things down again, while spectators from the bar came and stared at the fiasco. The boys eventually left and ambulances and police were called. Tony had a bad head wound that was treated and David was a little worse for wear having been booted in the face.

Jim felt we should have been there to protect the family. I do not agree. In fact I think that my family were 1) STUPID TO HANG AROUND OUTSIDE A PUB AFTER MIDNIGHT WITH CHILDREN STILL WITH THEM, 2) were slow to spot obvious warning signs of approaching trouble I picked up within five minutes of being outside. 3) escalated the trouble by not knowing how to avoid OFFENDING people. and 4) were guilty of believing they were going to be able to beat up someone who is far fitter and younger than themselves. Note to family. Your time is past. You are old men now not boys. GROW UP! Anyway next time I shall do my family duty and remove everyone (children first) when I next spot trouble.

Anyway after listening the stories we headed to Waltham Abbey for the most boring wedding ceremony I've ever had to attend. Yawn. Then lots of staged photographs. How common. Yawn yawn yawn. Then off we headed to the ponciest hotel in the world in a small but boring village off High Wych. It was a Wannabe sort of place and the bride's family were Wannabe sort of people. They made us wait two hours there before a standard, not so amazing meal and some tedious and unamusing speeches. Dull dull dull. They made the children eat chicken nuggets and chips rather than the wedding food, which was an obvious cost saving measure which just went to show the whole premise of the wedding was not about celebrating the love of two people but about making a big poncey show of things. Some drunks at the bar (including the brides brother) made homophobic comments about me and Jim (and would have been pulverised if I wasn't so darn well mannered) and the bride upset her new step daughter. The Kay family retreated to a far corner and settled down, attracting to us other non scary members of the party fleeing the disco and the bitchiness of the brides relatives.

Wannabes. Listen up! I come from an incredibly poor family. I was lucky and became part of an incredibly wealthy family. I've seen how both sides live. They live in exactly the same way. Wealthy or poor most people have fun by going out down the pub, having family BBQ's and doing relatively normal things (although the rich sometimes do this from the comfort of their Costa Del Sol villas and yachts). The middle class Wannabes think that poncy places such as Lounge Lover and the hotel in High Wych are places to go. They think this will impress people. It doesn't. It shows you haven't got enough money to afford true luxury and class, and haven't enough brains to enjoy yourself and let yourself go. It shows how boring and tasteless you are.

Anyway I'm now home, safe and sound and so glad to be back in Greenwich!!!!

Obsession

As long term readers of this blog (of which there aren't that many as
they all read my livejournal now!) will know I have many obsessions...
MT (a boy of such a beauty that it physically hurts me to look at
him), cats, politics, history and Stephen King.

I have a very "addictive personality" which comes out in unexpected
and rather annoying ways. Sometimes it drives me insane, literally.
One of those times is now. I won't go into the nitty gritty but I have
got a fantasy (that's all it is, a fantasy non-sexual but fantastic)
and it won't go away. I start to believe that what I'm thinking might
be true, and battle this belief throughout each day. It drives me
wild. In a bad way.

Imagine looking up expecting to see something, while the sane part of
your mind knows it won't be there... I actually spent my lunch
yesterday avoiding a fantasy by sitting in the park on my own
listening to music...

Am I the only person who sometimes feels like this? Sometimes I think
the whole worlds sane... and I'm the only insane one...

Rape - What's To Be Done?

There I was. I had just got in from a lunch at Pizza Express with Jim and Ian. I settle down to read my Observer. And I see this story. 50,000 women raped each year? And God knows how many men... how can we sit by and allow this? What can be done? I don't care about the conviction rate to be honest... how can we prevent this from actually happening in the first place???

What has happened to decency? And I don't mean that in a 1950s conservative sense... just basic humanity. When did we return to being just animals again? We are capable of so much more.

Not The Whole Story - Read Between The Lines

I've been quite busy of late and I'm too tired to say anything too political, interesting or witty (ok, as if I would have anyway!).

So I'll do something that I was gonna save for my LJ... I'll tell you what I've been up to!

On Thursday there was a work night out to the Motion Bar on Victoria Embankment. Drinks were bought for by the company and so everyone drank for all they were worth. It was interesting to see more people in a non work situation, and I had a laugh, even if I was somewhat inebriated... not really my sort of place, they had a guy in the loo to hand you a towel. I'm a bit above that thank you. That's something for the middle class boring sods...

On Friday after work a few of us headed to Tooting Broadway for a BBQ at the marketing managers house. It was again a good laugh. Carissa, a Californian who sits (sat) next to me, was leaving work so that was a bit sad. She was hilarious, and fun to be around.

Wandered into the kitchen at one point and Vince and Carissa were debating the words to a Meatloaf song. I stupidly told them the words to "I'll do anything for love" which caused them to do the funniest but also the worst performance of that song I've ever witnessed...

I found out Vince was gay... possibly...

Got home, not drunk for once!, and found Ian was round... and watched the first episode of Seaquest DSV (COOL!).

Saturday... got up early and headed to Brighton. Long term readers will know of my love hate relationship with that town. Got to Brighton, bought some new shoes at High and Mighty, ate a breakfast at Burger King, showed Jim St James Street, quick stop of the pier, a meal at Momma Cherri's (as seen on Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares. The food was fabulous. The service appalling. But the food... simply heavenly), then we went to the Odeon to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (second viewing opinion... I love it. Bravo! But had too girls sitting behind me [ugly as sin] who when I sat down screamed "Oh no" until they realised I wasn't gonna block their view. I quickly told them off for being rude... I wanted to tell them that being so hideously ugly they needed to improve their manners as they really currently had nothing going for them but I'm too polite for that), then back to the pier for the arcade and the fun fair and fish and chips. Then home again..

Phew!!!!!!!!!!!

Umbrellas, Spawn of Satan?

Ok. I hate London when it rains. I'm not talking about the refraction
of light, or the miserable attitude it brings out (people are always
miserable!). I'm talking about umbrellas.

In Folkestone you don't encounter that many umbrellas. Most people
drive so very few people are prepared for wet weather to the extent of
bringing their umbrellas out with them. In London the daily struggle
that is the commute brings out the survivalist in us all. And the
umbrellas appear at the mere threat of rain.

I am the perfect height (well that's patently obvious) for being hit
in the eye by badly handled umbrellas. Now some people are kind enough
to see me coming and raise their umbrellas. However due the the fact
their vision is obscured they do this at the last moment thus
attempting to poke me in the eye, and rip it from it's socket in one
move...

THis is my advice should you see me walking down the road and you are
in possession of an umbrella... aim it down!!! I have spent the years
of my adult life building up a defense against such items... a beer
gut... aim there rather than my eye! Cheers...

When Your 6'9"

Imagine you live in a world where most people are a good foot shorter than you, and a few even smaller. Imagine that this world has been designed for these mini people. Every chair you sit in, door you walk under and corridor you walk down has been designed for midgets.

That is the life I lead. It used to really annoy me, then I didn't worry about it, and now it's a mild irritant. Like sitting on the trains. On trains it is impossible to sit in just one seat... I need two seats to fit my legs in. So obviously to avoid being anti social I don't sit on a train. Planes... anyone elses plane journey is fraught with stress... did I remember to pack my passport? Is the train gonna get us there in time? My plane trip? I hope I get there earlier enough to get a seat by the exit so I can actually get on the plane...

Then there's the staring. Ok.. why oh why do people seem to think they can stare at me, without me staring intently back at them?? Do they think I can't hear them when they say "Cor he's a big lad"? Yes I am and you're an ugly man but hey I kept my rude and nasty thoughts to myself.

On the plus side I can see things others can't see, I don't spend my time on trains avoiding eye contact as I can do that naturely, and people don't get in my way (as I'll squash them otherwise!).

Can you hear the people sing?

Today I've updated my baby. This blog was sitting around with a hodge podge of old html, Haloscan commenting, and no RSS feed. So along with getting a new template, I've also had a little spring clean, and added a feed to bring my blog into 2005!

Hopefully I can now move forward with getting this blog back to it's old self again!
Whoops... Part 2

BBC News reports that the shot man was from Brazil. His family explain that he ran from the police because he once lived on a slum in Sao Paulo, which understandably is a very nasty place to live and could obviously cause emotional problems and a dislike of police. Interesting considering 1) he had lived in this country for 3 years thus should of understood that he no longer lived in a slum (well in Sao Paulo at least) and 2) the day before he discussed the 21/07/2005 attacks with a friend and expressed his concern about tube travel... so he should have been aware that running into a tube station and jumping over ticket barriers while wearing a coat in summer may cause some concern. Especially when the police are asking you to stop....

Now... I find the idea of an innocent man being killed appalling. But that disgust only covers people who did nothing at all strange, such as the man who was shot dead because he was carrying a piano leg. He didn't try to run. He didn't do anything suspicious, other than hold a package reminiscent of a gun. So if this Stockwell victim had been shot because he was wearing a coat, I would be asking for the polices badges. BUT HE RAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So this is a case of stupidity. And for once not on the part of the British Police force who acted to protect those at Stockwell station who they procieved to be under threat.

The whole argument that they were not obviously police smacks of idiocy... they advised they asked him to stop, in the name of the police.

Click here for a more balanced view of the incident than my own!

Take A Step To The Left

Whoops. Ok, while I would express sympathy with the shot man's family I still have a few questions... the day after terrorist attacks on tube stations why would he ignore police warnings to stop, jump over the ticket barrier and onto a tube train? I hope someone answers these questions as well as the usual "who is responsible for this tragedy?" In fact given the circumstances the reaction of the police seems fairly sane compared to the mans reaction... let's hope someone explains what happened!

Over the last couple of weeks I have been pondering my position as a liberal. I am someone who has sat on the left in most socially affairs debates, and on the right of most economical debates. But the increasing fundamentalism of capitalist organisations such as the World Bank has made me start to question my position. So I am redefining myself as a pinko leftie. I left my last trade union at the same time as I left TVW, I'm currently contemplating joining the USDAW. And possibly looking to joining a socialist party (one with a good distance between it and so called "communist" regimes.

SuperPower

Strange how quiet this blog is now, and how strangely liberating it is not to have so many readers as I used to have. I can write any old shit in here and to be perfectly honest it wouldn't matter. That's fairly cool.

Life? Erm... despite working only a short distance from Oval and Stockwell stations where there have been attempted suicide bombings (supposedly) life continues as normal. I grow increasingly tired of this country. I want to leave, move abroad to Europe or Asia, learn a new language.

of course when you are in love things like that are much harder than before. But it's well worth the sacrifice. Jim is more than I could ever have hoped for. Kind, funny, random, forceful, intelligent in an understated way and lovely. He makes up for the years of depression and disillusionment.

Off to Prague and Warsaw next month, something I am increasingly getting excited about. Went to see Les Miserables for second time this year last night. I love that show. Cept for the part about queers where the audience all laugh in a very depressing manner... as if just cos a man's queer, he's someone to laugh at...

Hmm...

Vive le revolution!

For the whole course of history, from Spartacus to Solidarity, opressed people have risen up and fought for their freedom. Isn't it about time we omee-palones (and palone-omees) rose up and claimed the freedoms which are rightfully ours? Our youth are abused, our elderly denied basic pension rights, we are treated as cases for pity at the very best. We can not "marry" although hey those straights have let us have civil partnerships. Ain't that kind of them?

It is time we stopped being so god darn grateful to our straight benefactors and started TAKING what is ours... freedom to love, freedom from interference in our lives, protection from homophobes and idiots.

This story disturbs me. Something has to be done, and it's time we stopped allowing people to get away with this. Adults going to "ex gay" caqmps is one thing. Forcing confused 16 year old boys to go is SICK. Straight people... leave our kids alone! The response to the Free Zach campaign is encouraging, but not enough... where's the international outcry???

Poor Zach. I wish I could categorically join the free Zach movement although I'd like to hear his side of the story, now after all the hype, before flinging myself into the debate... but I think it shows the usual... straight people, and their "ex gay" collaborators, opressing and controlling impressionable young queers. A nation wouldn't stand for this abuse, so why do we people joined together by something even more powerful than blood (love) let our hetrosexual brothers and sisters control us so much?

And the question I ask myself? How can I help stop this stuff from happening????

I Am An Omee-Palone

It finally happened. yesterday I heard someone using the "God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve argument" at a party I was at. I can't believe that people can be so stupid, small minded and completely unChristian. God created a world far more complicated than the feeble "Garden of Eden". He, in His almighty wisdom, created a world of complexity beyond imagining, of beauty beyond belief, and of diversity beyond simplification. He did not create Adam and Eve. He did not sacrifice His only Son just so "Christians" could discriminate and persecute. Has no one read the Gospels????? Turn the other cheek, blessed are the meek, etc. etc. i am disgusted that I seem to have a better understanding of Jesus' teachings than most "Christians". And I'm a Wiccan.

Today we remember the fallen. May the Gods bless them eternally.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Now for something completely delicious

And Still They Came

Today was the day we had all been waiting for. All those brief seconds of worry about whether today will be the day are finally over. The terrorists have finally struck London. Oh sure the attack wasn't as spectacular but they did their job.

I just hope we can pull through, not let fear and hate overtake us like it did the Americans, and move on...

A Map Of Africa

Hmm... the world today. Human beings have so much potential. When intelligent people work together amazing things can happen. Look at some of our transport systems, our monuments, our food, and our culture. It brims with brilliance. Who can walk out of Canary Wharf tube station without thinking "That wasn't half bad".

Sadly I get the impression that those who will hold back progress, who would rather spend their time moaning about the world today than sort it out, are ever increasingly taking over. The NIMBYs, and the Live8ers, and George Bush. They stand in ourn way. The NIMBYs just want a quiet life... well tough bloody luck... life is meant to be safe, quiet or secure. It is meant to be vibrant, energetic, and ever changing. The moment you stop changing is the moment that you become an irrelevance.

Live8ers... they have created a perception of a continent of victims. They have allowed people to become so deepseated in this view that they can't begin to comprehend that REAL people live in Africa, work in Africa and create amazing pieces of art, and culture. How can Africa be free when the people who are supposed to be looking out for their interests are partying in Hyde Park listening to dreary western music acts performed by shockingly rich people.

George Bush. Global warming. Nuff Said.

I hate going outside more and more these days. Stupid people seem to be multiplying... people who think that Africa is a country, that marriage is normal and not a daft socialisation, people who can't even imagine the glory of the world and who live their dreary lives never wanting more... I can't take it much longer...

I'm drowning in a sea of drudgery.

Twin Towers

Well it's amazing how a cheque in your hand can quickly change your opinion of a job. Given that it's a 50% increase in wages for me compared to my last job, I really must stop my moaning!!!

I went to the cinema last night to see War of the Worlds which was far better than I expected. More grim than I would have expected from Tom Cruise and Speilberg... And it didn't upset the classic War of the Worlds fan in me either. Tom Cruise's acting wasn't top notch but it was entertaining. 7/10. Not bad.

on my way to the bank today to cash my pay cheque, I was in Stockwell station when I found myself behind two giants. When i say giants I mean people taller than me (and I'm 6'9" after all). I practically came in my pants. Two men taller than me? Talk about the stuff of fantasies. PHWOAH!!!!! It was all I could do not to stare (I don't stare at tall people as, well... it annoys me when the ickle people stare at me...)

I have been spending far too much time on Google Maps

GOOD NEWS! Yes it's true there is always something to smile about... see below...

Boom

Nothing much has happened off late, mainly as I don't have two pence to rub together until pay day thanks to this whole moving to London thing.

Had lunch today on a boat moored on the Thames near Westminster Palace... very nice.

Just had guinea fowl on baby lettuce in chicken stock based sauce. It was GORGEOUS!!!!

Oh dear, they've done it again. Hmph. I hate to repeat myself, over and over. But come on. When will people learn that banning things is the not the way!!!!

Every Boys Dream

Today I awoke to a breakfast of scrambled eggs with chive served on toasted sour dough bread with fried mushrooms and tomatoes on the vine. This was very scrummy and yummy and quite delicious too. Mmm... Gordon Ramsey has inspired Jim to ever higher cooking feats. Yum!!!!

We have mostly been watching The O.C. series one, which I got for my birthday last week. I love the O.C. Seth is oh so fine.

Mugabe Claims Hundreds Of Houses Built. Oh well thats ok then... that makes it all better. Build the new homes, before you destroy the old ones!!!!!! Mugabe has ruled for too long. Time for a change. When will the Zimbabweans rise up and retake their country and make it the envy of Africa again? One day I hope to visit Zimbabwe and see the Victoria Falls and know that I am among free people, unoppressed by a malevolent dictator. But I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Working Nine Till Six

My job is strange. You get no training. Nobody tellls you what your responsibilities are. Today we got an email advising us that we needed to submit an outline of our projects by next week. What projects?? Will discuss it Monday. I'm only a customer services agent! :o)

Got so drunk last night that when I came home I was sick over the bed. Eek. This is never a good thing, but it's so much worse when you share that bed with someone. I felt so awful about it, especially as things are going slowly at mo, mainly as I'm still spending most of my energy on getting used to working/London and not spending it on our relationship. I will change that this weekend as much as possible.

In the news: Co-op bans Church group over anti Gay rhetoric. There is somewhere a small piece of me celebrating this. In my opinion anti-gay groups deserve everything they get. But banning them from holding a bank account? They can go and get a bank account anywhere!! Banning something almost always makes the problem worse. You ban drugs and a whole criminal underworld appears to supply them bringing crime and guns into the equation. You ban homosexuality and gay people go off do all sorts of anti social things. Banning these bastards from a bank will only make them feel victimised AND vindicated.

Don't You Sometimes Wish Fridges Came In A House Size?

I am now 22. Hard to believe I started this blog at the age of 18 hailing from the bright lights of Ashley Avenue. Paddock Fields came and went. Folks Wood Way has had its day. It's now Greenwich South Street that I call home. 2 and a half weeks ago I started a new job in Vauxhall working for an internet stationary company. I would put it's name here but this blog has an infamous history with Google!

I live in a flat with my boyfriend Jim. It's quiet scary really. Here I am. New job, new life. But same old Jae. Paranoid, socially inept, and a little messed up... But I still fancy Dermot O'Leary and think straight people are a bit strange...

I miss writing here, and will return I think... New Life, New Blog!

Messed up indeed!
