Brown... What Is He Good For?

It was the Queens Speech today and the Prime Minister set out his agenda for the next year. And what a crap agenda it is...

Terrorism - Post-charge questioning and possible extension of pre-charge detention beyond 28 days
Wonderful... let's lock all these people who might be dangerous up without trial...

Education - Raises age of youngsters in education or training to 18
Why give people a choice? That'd be crazy...

Energy - Bill paving the way for new generation of nuclear power plants
Well, let's be honest... it won't be Mr Brown who has to clear up the nuclear waste. You know... that stuff which will be around probably longer than us humans, to reap death and destruction on the unwary for eons to come.

Climate change - New powers to meet target of cutting CO2 by 60% by 2050
Fingers crossed for this one Gordon.
Constitutional reform - Give MPs formal say over going to war
Can't argue with that one.

Health - New regulator with power to fine hospitals which fail to meet hygiene standards
I bet the regulator decides we need more private investment...

Work: Consider extending flexible working to parents of older children
Why not bloody give flexible working for everyone. Having a child isn't exactly that amazing.

I agree with you, especially on that last point.

The climate change target is pretty ambitious, but it would be great if it would be reached.
