Nottingham Visit

Today I headed to Nottingham for a meeting with a supplier. To avoid the morning rush I took a pleasant walk up from Charing Cross to St Pancras. I'm amazed how close things in London are.

I got a Midland Mainline train up, in first class. It was so nice and quiet (and civilised!). I must travel first class more often. I got to Nottingham and remembering where the taxi rink was I was at the suppliers in minutes.

Now for a guy who used to get scared of going into shops on my own I was amazed to find I wasn't the least bit worried about handling a meeting all by myself. Amazing how much more confident I am nowadays.

My meeting lasted all of 30 minutes, including small talk. It was over so quickly I had plenty of time to have lunch with Emily and her boss (on the suppliers account of course) before catching an early train back home. Managed to get a whole book read on the journey there and back. Result!

I was minding my own business reading on the DLR on the way back when three Asian women got on and stood next me, and then began to talk about my height and laugh about it in Hindi. HOW RUDE! I wanted to kick 'em. 1) it's rude to talk about my height anyway, I don't go around to people and point out their little quirks and 2) really... talking in another language isn't going to disguise what you are talking about if you make hand gestures and point at me... I'm tall not thick.

Whatever happened to manners? Oh and some Italians did the same thing this morning with "molto alto" mentioned a lot. Sheesh guys...

I've got a real thing against Italians this week (sorry to any Italian readers!) and a real thing for... Daniel Carter...
